message 154: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 1 comments Because I am a voracious reader my book read "wish list" is pretty long. I usually read a few at a time, taking turns with each one depending on my mood. I also make an effort to read books that are nothing alike so I don't get confused with plot points. For example, right now I am reading "The Housemaid" by Freida McFadden and "Taking Berlin" by Martin Dugard (NF).

erindreads | 10 comments When I participate in book club I’m usually reading 2 at once, but otherwise just one! I like to give my full attention to one story so I’m more likely to remember it!

message 166: by Tracy (new)

Tracy M | 1 comments I think the most I've ever read at one time is 7? Usually between 2-4. I have a couple of book clubs, my son and I read together, and sometimes my work will do a group read. Plus whatever I've chosen to read personally.

message 167: by Anthony (new)

message 169: by Jo (new)

Jo Kerr | 76 comments Usually one at a time, but if I have one I’m enjoying enough not to DNF it but feel like I’m wading it through it I’ll put it on one side to read something else then come back to it.
I’m also in a book club so sometimes overlap books if my book club read deadline is glowering at me! 🤣

message 170: by Hannah (new)

Hannah I usually read a copy and listen to one at work. I prefer if they are different genres

message 171: by beatricesbooks (new)

message 178: by Krista (new)

Krista Avila | 6 comments Ive been getting into the practice of reading a physical book and a Kindle book at the same time. I do audio for all my books. My ADHD brains requires me to listen and read along.

message 179: by Emma (new)

Emma Sadler (allneedles) | 5 comments I used to only read one at a time, but now I read multiple. Usually a physical book for when I’m settled at home. Something on Kindle as well as an audiobook for when I’m out and about or in the night so I don’t need a light and disturb my husband’s sleep. I also listen to audiobooks when I walk on the treadmill. I have also been trying to read a chapter or two a day of either a classic or non-fiction.

message 180: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa Driedger-Morrison | 2 comments If one of them is an audiobook I can usually get by with reading two but if it's two physical books I cannot read both until I finish the other.

message 181: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (iniysa) | 147 comments Several books at a time! The key is not to read similar books at the same time or you will get confused!

message 182: by Sandra (new)

ʚ manvi°•✮•° | 71 comments i usually read one at a time, but sometimes is a self help going on with a fiction one haha

message 184: by Ashley (new)

Ashley R | 61 comments For me, I keep it to a two-book maximum.

The first book is usually an easy read or a book that doesn’t require much thought or understanding. I keep this one with me through the day. Mainly, it’s a Smithsonian magazine (with the ads marked out). I do carry a copy Murakami’s First Person Singular collection of short stories, just in case I find myself waiting around.

The second book is the one I’m more invested in (fiction, duh). Right now, I’m reading Piranesi by Susanna Clarke and it’s intriguingly winding. I read this one before bed, in lieu of TikTok.

I highly recommend having this two-book system. It lowers the possibility of getting bored or uninterested with the book you’re ACTUALLY interested in. You give your brain something to chew on during the day, and your reward after work is to read something fun.

message 185: by Julie (new)

Julie Ounanian (julzounanian) | 42 comments Today I started my 3rd book. I opened to see if I would like and I do - If It Bleeds by Stephen King. Also What Really Happens in Vegas by James Patterson and The Body in the Attic by Judi Lynn.

Three different books. One to listen to, one on my Kindle and a physical book. As long as they are all different stories, it works!!

message 186: by sohispanic (new)

sohispanic | 3 comments multiple…currently reading 11

message 187: by Philmore (new)

Philmore Olazo (philmore_olazo) | 23 comments I was a one-book-at-a-time purist. But I really got the hang of reading many at the same time.

I have some on my phone, to read at work, and others that I read at home physically.

message 188: by Kiah (new)

message 191: by neibookla (new)

neibookla | 1 comments I am literally reading 4 books right now :) and it's not 5, because yesterday I finished it. I read a lot of books at the same time because they are "situational“. One book is audiobook, another I read on the phone when I cannot bring my book and other two are just physical copies, but have really different genres.

message 193: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (quakerwidow) | 155 comments I read one at a time unless I am having trouble with Kindle.

message 194: by tara (new)

tara | 4 comments I used to always read one book at a time and strictly wait until I was finished with that one before I started a new one.
Now, I sometimes read two or more books at a time, because one of those books is very boring or takes me a lot of time to get through, so I distract myself with a short, fun book because I still think reading should be fun and not a chore.
I tend to focus on one book and push the others back until I’ve finished that one.

message 195: by Sofia (new)

message 200: by REZZER (new)
