mar | 12 comments I tend to read two books at a time, the first is longer and harder to read, and the second is lighter and more entertaining, for balance.

Bella(✨❤️Hopeful Romantic❤️✨) | 251 comments It really depends. If a book is an assignment of some sorts, I’ll for sure read a book(or two) along side the assigned book. But if it’s my favorite book, I’ll finish that book before I read another.

Lamaᰔ (lma132) | 14 comments I listen to the audiobook of one book and when I don't want to listen I read my physical or E-books and sometimes I add graphic novels too!

Abi | 104 comments I listen to an audiobook and read a different book at the same time. I tend to read one book at a time, but if i start to lose interest, I'll pop it to one side to pick up at a later date and then start a new one otherwise I'll get into a slump.

Clara 𐙚 (clara17) | 272 comments I read one book at a time

Booker G. A. Feniks | 4 comments I read multiple books at a time. Most often I have one slimmer book I take on the bus with me, one bigger book I read at home comfortably, a poetry or short story anthology that I read over the course of a few months, & then maybe a digital book to read on my laptop as I've begun doing lately. It's very dangerous for me to read books downstairs, my pet bunny really likes the taste of paperbacks, so a laptop is the much safer option.

Aditi ~ readwaditi (readwaditi) | 66 comments i wait, can't read all books at once

Denim ♡ | 52 comments yes, I do... sometimes, one I read at night, sometimes I read a day book (like the scary ones) becoz im a p* $ and some i listen to as audio while driving. sometimes, I just use my 'currently' reading shelf for books im holding out on

message 13: by Sarah (new)

Sarah B | 187 comments I often read 2 or more books at a timd. I often have a paper book going plus a kindle book.. At the moment i have 2 kindle books going plus a paper book.. One kindle book i am almost done with so I will finish it today and the new one I think I will just fly through it.

I often need to read at least 2 at a time. Because every Thursday morning I go out to the ranch. And that ride is like 45 minutes long one way. So I read a book on the way there + back. That is often equal tl 80 - 100 pages. Unless I get a chatty driver. Because some drivers want to chat. Its always random what driver you get. This Thursday the ranch was closed due to severe cold.

But i have no problem keeping the stories seperate.

Will Tao | 2 comments I could never read more than 1 book at once, because it feels like cheating on the characters in each book!! I like to fully immerse myself in each world.

message 15: by Christine (new)

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments Reading several books at the same time never gets confusing for me.
Usually I read a crime novel, a regular novel, a movie book and an autobiography.

message 16: by Meredith (new)

Meredith (meredithgayle) | 19 comments I tend to have several books on the go at the same time, some physical and some ebooks, very rarely audiobooks, and only if the library only has the audiobook through Hoopla.

Lacey (bookishlace) (laceyannea) | 2 comments I have multiple going at the same time but in different formats…so the max I can do is 3. One print, one ebook, and one audiobook

message 18: by Christine (new)

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments Only hardcovers for me.

I've noticed that audio disks don't stop when you have to do something else and interrupt listening. When you return to them them on the next day, you have to listen to it all over again (there's no chapter and no fast forward either).

message 19: by Elvira (new)

Elvira Bergquist | 28 comments I tend to aim to read only 1 book at a time, but I always get too excited and start reading another one, so i end up reading 2 at most times. It took me 7 months to read A Little Life, so obviously I read other, shorter books at the same time. Currently I’m reading 1984 and The Bell Jar at the same time, because I’ve had some trouble to get through 1984, and The Bell Jar is a lot more digestible, despite non of them being in my native language. So yeah, 2 books at a time, one that I have to put more effort into, and another for some reader’s digest.

message 20: by BookishDramas (new)

BookishDramas (sanjibkd) | 268 comments I am a glutton for punishment.
Read anything between 20 to 30 books at a time. Went up to 39 last year and have brought down to 21 now.
I don't read books as a profession, this has just become a habit which has intensified after going digital and especially during Covid. Having multiple books on my kindle and my phone provides easy access.
Adding ARC's to the mix (netgalley and booksirens) and rating and reviewing them has made the process enjoyable.
There are some books from favorite authors which I read at a languorous pace savoring the lines and there are other which I read in one or two sessions.

It helps keep my mind sharper tracking all the characters across multiple formats including audiobooks and hard copies.

I have been able to read more books than I was able to before suiting my moods and I read whenever I get some time.

mar | 12 comments I'm surprised, I thought most people would read more than one book at a time, but it seems that a large portion of people do not.
I have tried to respond to some of the comments, but I don't know how, as this is the first time I have participated in a group. Anyway, thanks for your responses!

That's rather strange because my player will let me pick chapters and has a rewind and fast forward function. Never had that problem with CD's. Sometimes an MP3 will have a glitch and fast forward doesn't work but bookmarks solve that issue.

I usually have two books I am reading at a time, one print and one audio. Sometimes one will be non-fiction and the other fiction. Nice to mix things up.

message 42: by Shajee (new)

Shajee Gardezi | 3 comments I generally read four to five books at a length. I start with two complex and long book, I’m reading Das Kapital and Diplomacy as of now, whereas, the shorter ones include 48 laws of power, The body keeps the score, etc. they’re an easy read plus less complex. Even diplomacy is too captivating despite its length. The only book where I feel a bit stuck is das kapital because of its mathematical equations and alien terminology for a person without any background in economics, yet I throughly enjoy the challenging feeling which it engenders in me.

Then, alternatively, I also stumble upon some pst readings and revise certain chapters from it such as the prince, or the laws of human nature, etc.

message 43: by megs (new)

megs | 21 comments Finish one and then start another, but depends on what im reading and how into it I am

jayla (semi-inactive) I typically read two books at a time. I really do try to read just one book and then move on to another one but I always have so many books that I want to read, so I end up reading two at a time 😭

message 45: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Thyen (irishdaisysadventures) I read 1 or 2 at a time. Sometimes, I read a Kindle book alongside a physical book.

message 48: by Christine (new)

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments I read 4 books right now. A wilderness biography by Kathrene Pinkerton before falling asleep. "The Daphne DuMaurier Companion" downstairs for our TV-free afternoons, the Charlotte Link trilogy set in the entire 20th century in the bedroom in case I don't feel like watching DVD's and at the dentist/doctor/hair stylist I read "The House in the Fenn" by Clare Francis. I keep that book in my car in case I'm stuck in a traffic jam.
