This is a binge read for everything Ilona Andrews, running from April to December 2024.
(I was going to wait until Iron Druid Chronicles thread was closer to ending, before making the thread, but everyone around here is so overbooked right now, they'd rather make things official and get it on their trackers, so I'm making it now...)
With this Auther / Collection of Series, I think I might make new threads for different series, as we go along, since there are plans for some people to join for specific series, and not everything, but I'm just going to make this first thread for now, and put the schedule here at the top:

Ilona Andrews is one of my favorite authors, and can't wait to share it with some new readers and old re-readers like myself...
EDIT: Updated plan for clarity/straggler discussions... we'll use this thread primarily for the Kate Daniels content in April/May/June/December...
I'll make new threads as the BR Club progresses in July (Edge thread), August (Hidden Legacy thread), and September (Innkeeper Chronicles + Kinsman Universe thread)... sometimes we'll be alternating between threads each month (especially Hidden Legacy in November and Kate Daniels revisit in December)...

Gotta love goodreads... anyway, I'll mention this in the book club thread, as per Soo's suggestion last week, and include the first book each month on the official spreadsheet...
EDIT: I also mentioned the first book in each series, if we are reading multiple different series in a single month (October and December, as we wrap things up)...

The short stories make it worse...
I do the short stories if I own them and/or they're available on audio (so it varies alot by series... I've done all the Dresden shorts, Iron Druid shorts, most of the Ilona Andrews shorts, and a fair bit of Nalini Singh and some others...
I was better about Seanan McGuire in my ebook days... same with T.A. Pratt...
Nirkatze really likes to do the short stories tho, even if it means alternating between audio and ebooks...
Even without them, it's basically a book a week, or a book every 10 days for the trilogy months...
I got into a rhythm with Ann-Marie doing that, last summer... we're pretty good at using one another as impetus to jump into the next book now (even as Nirkatze & Choko fell far behind on the Cycle of Arawn/Galand series)... even Ann-Marie has her limits, tho :D ... by the time she/we rated The 13th God one star, she skipped Cycle of the Scour... which I went ahead with, since I had the audios, and gave decent 3-4 star ratings...
I really like the KD schedule here, because 1-4 is a solid first arc to the series romantically, and with Erra at the end... 5-7 finishes out Ilona Andrews' original plan for the series, before they realized the ending was unrealistic, and changed it and added on a 2nd arc trilogy that made more sense for 8-10 and the main ending to the series...
The rest of it was a bit of a toss-up that took me longer to sort out, initially... and Kinsmen, I've only read Fated Blades I think, so #1-2 and the extra short story in the omnibus will be new to me... and they're some of IA's oldest works, I think...

I missed buying book 1 in Scour when it was on sale and I refused to buy it after reading the shit show that was the last few Galand books! I was thinking this weekend that I really do need to finish those, I refuse to let them win!

Totally understandable... and has kinda happened to some extent with all these binge BRs...
1/2 the people doing In Death mostly kept up with the weeklies, but fell behind by a month once or twice and binged even faster to catch back up... others just did at their own/library checkout pace all along...
Me and Ann-Marie were the most consistent in the Arawn/Galand thread... Nirkatze and Choko tried to catch up in September, and neither quite managed for various reasons (the dwindling quality being among them)...
Iron Druid is going well, so far, but the books are much shorter... I hope that carries over into Ilona Andrews... the books aren't tomes, but vary from short books to sizeable books, I'd say... lots of fun character stuff and dialogue, tho...
If you decide to read at your own pace and pop in, I can always talk Ilona Andrews book plots...

I, too, will be hopping in when I can. I think I'll be about two weeks behind on every title.
More of my master plans, shaping up nicely...
As long as I'm responsible for 99% of Book Club binge threads, and we only have 1 Mystery and 1 Other running at a time, I think it's manageable... (excluding old ones that carry on forever)...

I find that if I have the dates in my tracker, I'm less likely to fall behind... only 4 more books in In Death to finish! Still plan to get back to Arawn at some point, I refuse to give up...
I'm definitely going to try to go the distance with these--a lot of them are on Hoopla or Libby, but some only have the Graphic Audio... which I might try for the Innkeeper series since it's not been that long since we read them, just for something different...
End note: Adding a ditto for the thread title love. You come up with great title ideas Iain!
I try to give each book club a distinctive title, for some reason... started with the Wandering Inn Common Room (which didn't really become a thing until we were all caught up, and using it to wait for future releases)...

The authors just posted a tiny new Innkeeper snippet about Klaus and what he wanted to talk to Maud about at the end of Sweep of the Blade: https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/i-will...
There's a Roman serial being released right now. It starts here: https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/sanctu...
Enjoy!

Or perhaps he did and wanted that reaction ;)

Oohhh thanks for posting this! Will read it tonight.

Looks like your first BR will be a big one, hope you enjoy!

Yea... the commenters can't decide if Klaus is as devious as George... mostly because he's been an AWOL asshat for the past decade+...

I clicked on the Roman serial at work this morning and devoured it... sounds like it's just a Christmassy short story to whet the appetite, before that long-hinted-at possible Roman novel down the line...
I want MOAR... Roman's menagerie of Russian pagan monster critters are classic Ilona Andrews... wonder if we'll meet the potential future love interest... right now, my guess is (view spoiler)
Loving the neighbors, too... I'll probably wait for this to finish before reading more... I'm terrible at doing 1/2 chapter per week...
Skimmed through the newest blog posts, and see that Kid 2 is becoming a writer... kudos to them for not namedropping, and maintaining anonymity... debuting as the child of a famous-ish author has it's ups and downs...

Welcome Marie! Glad to have you join us! And can totally call someone a favorite author, even if it's just for one book!

Yay, this is such an epic BR to join!

You are right Nirkatze that a favorite author can become a favorite after one book but I still feel like I should read a substantial amount from an author or at least the series considered their best. Like I call Brandon Sanderson my favorite author yet it irks me I am yet to read the Stormlight Archive. Maybe it's more like, why the hell have I not read everything from them yet if I call them my favorite author?

Some people like to binge, some people like to savor...
This'll be my 5+ re-read of some of these... and at least 3+ on pretty much everything but the newest stuff...
By the time we get to everything, there should be some new stuff, too... like the current KD World serial running on their website following Roman dealing with a situation at Christmastime...
Maybe the next/final Innkeeper Chronicles, too... that would be awesome... that snippet has me hyped... I can't remember if the Maluka or whatever it's called was mentioned in earlier stories or not... i remember a few stories from childhood inn times...

In adding all this to my spreadsheet for the year, I can definitively say Magic Gifts is the one short story that lacks audio, it's only included in the Gunmetal Magic ebook/physical books... they tried to include it in the Small Magic anthology a few months ago, and copyright claims prevented it (must still be held by the traditional publisher)...
That's pretty good for a series with so many short stories, honestly... including all the Curran/Jim POVs... the only things missing are some flash fiction, non-canon stuff, and recent stuff on the website I think...
I need to get back to reading the Roman web serial off the website at some point... been a few months since I checked on that... it's a short Christmas-themed story... I think we talked a bit about it on here, if I scroll up...

EDIT: Roman is a Russian Volvh in the KD world... him & his family start appearing around book 3-6, I think... I know it's the 2nd or 3rd appearance of the Oracle characters, in the series, when you start seeing (view spoiler)
EDIT EDIT: Goodreads has a character profile that says Roman appears in books 5, 5.5, and 9... sounds right... #9 for sure... and I know he has a thing for Andrea Nash for awhile, so it makes sense he's in 5 & 5.5...

I'm normally like this too but needed some new Ilona Andrews in my life :)
I'm normally similar, but the chapter or 2 I read kinda hooked me... I'm terrible at checking back on a regular basis tho...
Just read Roman Serial chapter 3... the biggest thing you miss out on, in the ebooks/audiobooks, is all the art they include in the serial... I don't think half of it ends up in the ebook, unless it's commissioned/paid for... alot of the art, especially in this one, is reference art for the Russian folklore creatures being introduced...
With Innkeeper Chronicles, I think it's more commissioned, because I don't know how much art exists out there for religious space chickens...

Yup... I just caught up through the end of Chapter 5... it's been really good...
I'm just loving being in Roman's head... not sure how old he is now, but he's really turning into a grumpy Russian hermit... always kinda was, just younger... and his perspective on being a dark priest is great (that's shown in the main series, too, in smaller doses)...

Chapter 6 Part 1 dropped yesterday, for the Roman Serial, and OH MY GOD... Evdokia (Roman's mom, for the uninitiated) showed up, and Roman just stuck his foot so far down his throat, I'm giggling...

No new chapter / half chapter this week :(
Was talking about the serial in another group Thursday, so it was on my mind... but apparently Ilona & Gordon got a bit busy on Thursday, themselves:
