Killua | 364 comments I don’t. i remember a few years ago eating noodles while reading dairy of a whimp and while i slurped the noodles i tumbled over my bowl on my book. I've been traumatized since and don't even eat a piece of chocolate near my books. Lol

i07am_irxnx | 9 comments No. just no, I feel like I dirty the book

`.~•Kat°~•, | 25 comments This made me laugh, I have ADHD so the most I can do while reading is listening to music and even that is too overstimulating at times. Also I enjoy both eating AND reading thoroughly, so I get too distracted trying to eat honestly.

message 4: by Homer (new)

Homer | 15 comments Nope, too risky. Plus I cant focus reading if I'm eating. I'm too hungry.

`.~•Kat°~•, | 25 comments @Homer so real for this honestly

literally no one's here you moron | 43 comments I do, but only if I bought the book myself; not if it's from the library

message 7: by Killua (new)

Killua | 364 comments i also have adhd and the thing i hate most is that everyone in my house is doing their thing and is just quiet but as soon as i open my book the tv goes on and my mom starts to talk even tho we probably didn't speak the entire day lol

Dee Turner | 17 comments Every evening! I prop my Kindle up at an angle and turn up the font so I can see from a distance. If family members join me at table, I put it away.

message 11: by Azari (new)

Azari (azarvyx) | 25 comments yesss I read on my lunch break on my kindle

message 12: by ember (new)

ember (embers_bookshelf) I love listening to audiobooks and zoning into the book while I eat lol

message 13: by Christine (new)

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments Not while I'm eating a meal, but for decades I liked to eat a large 200 g chocolate bar while reading a book.
Unfortunately now I need to lose weight.

message 14: by Killua (new)

Killua | 364 comments haha i love this

message 15: by Elvira (new)

Elvira Bergquist | 28 comments I don’t, I usually need my hands for eating and the pages always turn when I don’t hold them, and since I don’t have 4 hands it makes it an inconvenience. Even snacking is annoying bc I don’t like to have dirty fingers while reading (though I’m not scared of dirtying the book, coffee spills or tea spills are almost obligatory in my bookcase). Anyways, YouTube is the way to go for me, I just can’t enjoy myself if I’m juggling between the book and the food. :)

message 16: by Daniele (new)

Daniele (danielezan) | 25 comments Sometimes I read while eating, but very rarely, and when I do, it is mainly from my Kindle because it is more practical.

message 17: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 19 comments I do this often... like if im in a good part of my book you want me to stop? to eat? insanity...

message 18: by kayla (new)

kayla (kaylacallahann) | 101 comments yea

message 19: by Lucy (new)

Lucy | 131 comments i never do because i don’t want to get food on my book 😭
i’m more of a shows while eating person!!

message 20: by Killua (new)

Killua | 364 comments @Nikki if I have a really good book it's most likely I will forget to eat lol

message 21: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda | 6 comments Only if its a kindle or online book, I couldn't imagine how'd I feel if I got food on my book

message 22: by Sophie (new)

Sophie only snacks, not actual meals! it would be too risky bc I hate dirty books

message 23: by Geloü (new)

Geloü As much as I want to, I can't. My chewing of foods always distracts me.

message 24: by Zozii (new)

Zozii (redroseies) | 7 comments sometimes but I read on my kindle so I don't get my book dirty

message 25: by Diane (new)

Diane Yeah! CHOCOLATE!!

message 26: by Susanne (new)

Susanne | 102 comments I often read while eating or rather, eat while reading! But I'll only use an ebook. I don't have enough hands to hold a print book as well as eat.

message 27: by Shawna (new)

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 120 comments No but that's cuz I can't eat food due to my health issues :/

message 28: by Shelby (new)

Shelby Swartzel (shelby_reads2889) | 21 comments sometimes, if it's not messy

⋆˚࿔Elise ˚⋆ (wwwgoodreasdscomlydiaelise) only sometimes!!

message 30: by Len (new)

Len | 51 comments It depends on the book and the author. David Attenborough - not a problem. Donald Trump - a napkin would not be sufficient.

message 31: by Tanja (new)

Tanja | 315 comments Yes, I'm so guilty of that

message 32: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Thomason | 15 comments yes, if I am eating alone.

message 33: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (proudtobepride) | 11 comments yep. 100% guilty.

message 34: by sarah (new)

sarah | 284 comments I've tried but end up either eating if its yummy or reading cuz the food isn't that great (lol) but no can't do both at the same time. LMHO for Killua's comment cuz it so freaking true.

˚₊‧⁀➷Chadlotte˚₊‧⁀➷ BANANA LECLERC So, it depends on the food. If I'm eating like idk jellybeans then I'll eat while reading, but if I have soup or something I actually have to focus my attention on, I'll end up reading and forgetting about it- and then I end up just eating the cold food and setting down the book.

message 36: by Percy (new)

Percy The Angel (percydiangelo) | 24 comments sometimes, if the food im eating makes it easy to read simultaneously.

message 37: by Tanja (new)

Tanja | 315 comments Yes, sometimes

message 38: by tania (new)

tania | 62 comments sometimes I do eat while I'm reading but only if it's a very good book and it's digital

message 39: by Donna (new)

Donna Toland | 30 comments Audio books while eating = yess
Physical books while eating = definitely a big no no

message 40: by Jeanette (new)

Jeanette Durkin Yes!

message 41: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline (applejacksbooks) Only if I'm reading on my kindle or phone. I'm too messy otherwise.

message 42: by F. (new)

F. Broeders | 4 comments If I read on my phone or other digital devices then yes. But when I am reading a visual book, I will not eat anything since I do not want to food to stain the pages..

message 43: by kim | novelhaus (new)

kim | novelhaus (novelhaus) | 5 comments i dont usually unless its an ebook or audiobook. otherwise, i WILL ruin the book just like i ruin every shirt i ever wear when i eat

message 44: by Dave (new)

Dave | 41 comments No. There's reading and there's eating, and since my one regular writing assignment is restaurant reviews, I pay too much attention to the food to do any reading during my research,

message 45: by luna ♡ (new)

luna ♡ | 53 comments yea, unless its like a difficult food (like soup or wings or something that handles more focus for me) but if its j something like a sandwich or chips or cookie then idc

message 46: by Luna (new)

Luna Challis | 1 comments not while eating, but i always read a chapter of my main (non-assigned) book at work - and i'm a janitor who works with chemicals. yeah, i've made a mess of a few books lol

message 47: by Zuza (new)

Zuza | 14 comments Yes but only e-books. I fear that I will smudge something on my paper ones, and I want to keep them as clean as possible.

message 48: by karissa m (new)

karissa m | 139 comments sometimes but mostly I only drink

message 49: by Ian (new)

Ian Houston | 33 comments I’m honestly surprised by how many people have said they avoid eating while reading. I almost always read while having dinner, and at other meals if I can get away with it. While I respect the notion that books should be taken care of so that they last as long as possible, a little spill every now and then won’t destroy it. Just wipe it up and move on. In the end, they’re just things, they can be replaced, and they should be read…often!

The previous statements may offend some audiences.

message 50: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (vanessacumberlandcountypa) When I was a young person reading Anne of Green Gables I had a bowl of sweet cherries at my side. Reading about Anne in the orchard while eating cherries was I guess not as sublime as Proust and the madeleines but it was a pretty epic pairing for me at the time.
