Great review. I read The Last Dance in April this year. It was rhe first time I'd read Mark Billingham and I loved it. His humour and sarcasm really help elevate Detective Miller to one of my favourite characters

James Best (jamesbest) | 302 comments Now starting FIRST FROST by Craig Johnson, the 20th novel in his ongoing mystery series featuring tough-as-nails sheriff Walt Longmire.

This one is a prequel of sorts telling a story about Walt and his best friend Henry Standing Bear that is set in 1964 after they have graduated college and have enlisted to go to Vietnam.

Charlie and Margaret Marder #2. Late 1961 - Mid 1962. Charlie and Margaret find themselves in L.A. hanging with Sinatra, Dino, Sammy and the rest of the Rat Pack; forced to investigate the Mob undercover for Bobby Kennedy while trying to find Margaret's missing niece. Much better than it's predecessor (Hellfire Club). Very exciting with lots of suspenseful twists and turns. And really interesting portraits of Sinatra and other Hollywood personalities, good and bad. I really liked it -- 4 stars.

Good book but the plot could be more exciting. 3 stars

(and it's not because I still blame former FBI Director James Comey for 'you know who' becoming president). 🙂

This addition to the Sheriff Walt Longmire series is WAY off the beaten track. Walt 'time travels' back to the late 1800s and a notorious Indian Boarding School that has a predatory Cheyenne entity hanging about.

Brian Wilde | 33 comments Hi all,

Ive just finished reading Tripwire, the third Jack Reacher novel.

Tripwire (Jack Reacher, #3) Tripwire by Lee Child

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In the third book of the series, we find Reacher in Key West digging pools for money. The physical labour increasing his incredible muscle mass even more. This is Reacher in prime physical condition. Bad guys be ware.
He's found by a Private Investigator who is quickly murdered. Reacher tracks down who hired the P.I and is reunited with the daughter of his old Commanding Officer at his funeral.
The investigator and his Commanding officer are trying to track down an MIA soldier from the Vietnam war.
This soldier discovered the investigation and is hunting down everyone who is trying to find him.

This novel was Jack Reacher at his best. Hunting the hunter, investigating army vets, protecting the daughter of his former Commanding officer. Building pace to the epic final crescendo.
