Wow, I don't think I have read that one.

abmom | 71 comments Yes, thank you Rose and Sam. Sam, that story has a very interesting premise but also has too many inconsistencies.

message 55: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 434 comments Yes, but its really is a sweet one, with both P&P and persuasion in one book!

message 56: by Linda (new)

Linda | 135 comments I remember a book where Jane and the son of a family who was renting Netherfield were in love, but the family forbade him from marrying Jane because of Mrs. Bennet's behavior. Years later, she meets the guy again, and he's a widower.

message 57: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 434 comments I think I read it, but can't remember a title

wosedwew | 210 comments I think there might be more than one with this theme.
Was it the young man who wrote the bad poetry for Jane?
Can you give any more details?

I think Mrs. Bennet tried to arrange a compromise, and the young man's parents threatened to cut him off if he married Jane. He married someone else, and she died in childbirth. He inherited her estate and he had a daughter.

Liz H | 87 comments Do you remember if Jane married Bingley? If not, we may be able to find it on Jaffindex.com

No, she didn't.

message 62: by Liz H (new)

Liz H | 87 comments I can't get into the index now, but there is a category of alternate pairings. I think you can specify Jane & not Bingley, or something similar. I presume this would be Jane & OC

message 63: by Anne (new)

Anne | 70 comments I read this, too. And not that long ago. Unfortunately my memory is a sieve.

Anji | 167 comments Asking for a member of the FB Audiobooks group. Here’s her question:

Ok, my brain is not working. I’m trying to remember which book has Darcy planning a surprise vacation/holiday for Elizabeth where they are at a cottage by themselves. It has its own private hot springs pond out back. I think it is owned by a retired naval officer..

She says in a later comment:

I am pretty sure that it was Stevie Zimmerman Audiobook Narrator as the narrator. The vacation / holiday was because they had been under so much stress & that was keeping E from being with child. This vacation was only one part of the longer book.

Does anyone here have any ideas?

Adele (delbert59) | 10 comments Here is a search from Facebook

Forced marriage scenario. Darcy ANGRY at the beginning and thinks Elizabeth planned the compromise even though it was an accident. Her settlement has her only receiving 10£ a year for all of her needs. D leaves her in London alone to spend Christmas with Georgianna at Pemberley, but he never tells her he's leaving. The Fitzwilliams meet Elizabeth and ADORE her. His aunt and her daughter modify some of the daughters clothing for Elizabeth and purchase her some things, even though she's content to keep to the set amount and budget for her needs. The Fitzwilliams also barrate D via letter about how horrible he is for abandoning his very delightful wife, also telling Georgianna she will love her new sister.

Elizabeth has epilepsy.

I think it is. I remember reading this one now and Darcy was pretty awful. I posted your answer on the Facebook thread.
thank you

Anji | 167 comments Posted this is another thread earlier but not sure it was the right one, so thought I’d post it here, too. Not looking for a specific title or author.

I’m looking for another recommendation for Rita Deodato’s Bingo Challenge. I need something published this year that’s an author’s debut story.

I’ve been trying NOT to spend money on buying books for this challenge, as a way of clearing out some of the unread stuff lurking in the catacombs of my Kindle and Audible libraries. However, I suspect I may have to put my hand in my pocket in order to check off this square on my Bingo card. I don’t mind doing that if it’s a really good one, though.

Any and all thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Adele (delbert59) | 10 comments There are a couple of books that I like to re read but can never remember the title for them. I should make my own shelf and call it “Brain Farts”

Anyway, here’s the description I don’t remember how our ODC get together. It might’ve been an FMS. But around the time that they are really seeming to gel as a couple, Mrs. Hurst points out that the good friend that Darcy introduced.Elizabeth to was actually his former lover. Of course this happens at a dinner party and ODG is devastated, but must power through to the evening.
Oh, and I think the reason Mrs. Hurst & Caroline dislike the friend is that that lady is getting in the way of them trying to match Charles to Georgiana.

Adele (delbert59) | 10 comments Twists of Fate by Joanna Starnes. I don’t know why I can’t remember the title when I have read it at least twice before ! 😌

message 74: by Linda (new)

Linda | 135 comments I remember a book where Mrs. Bennet has a stroke (apoplexy) at Rosings Park, and eventually dies. I think all the Bennets were there for some reason.

I think I read it through KU.

Adele (delbert59) | 10 comments Looking for a title where he saves Georgiana by giving up her seat in her friends carriage, but then he is stranded at this in near Scotland. Hits her in order to start a fight with D.

wosedwew | 210 comments Could it be this one? E sends G off with the Gardiners and remains at the Inn. GW causes trouble. D arrives at the inn.

message 80: by abmom (new)

abmom | 71 comments I remember reading a story set in Bath, neither Ardently nor Folly of youth. All I remember is Darcy stays in a house in the crescent circle (?). I know it's not much, actually it's nothing but if anyone could remember, it'll be great.

message 81: by Liz H (new)

Liz H | 87 comments There is a book I've seen mentioned the past week or two. Darcy was in France after the Treaty of Amiens, when suddenly the peace collapsed. An original character, perhaps named Ashworth, helped Darcy and others to get home safely. Later, Bingley rents Netherfield, not realizing that his acquaintance (the OC) is the owner. The OC has a poor relationship with the neighbors around Meryton. Bingley, Darcy, and Elizabeth attempt to help smooth things over. Does this ring a bell?

Katja | 314 comments I don't remember anyone named Ashworth but Darcy was in France in https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

The Matchmaker of Pemberley: An Amorous Sequel to All Jane Austen's Novels
by Catherine Hemingway
is set in Bath.
D&E are married and E arranges matches for sisters/friends.

message 85: by abmom (new)

abmom | 71 comments No D&E are not married. I vaguely remember Wickham is there and keeps a watch on Darcy's house. There is a path between that and the house Elizabeth is staying in and when he sees that Darcy loves Elizabeth, he accosts her in that path and Darcy saves her, I think. I'm not very sure.
