EffinghamPL (goodreadscomeffinghampl) | 3 comments The book may take place in Australia and may have been published in the 1980s. story about a boy who finds a stray cat in his family barn.
The cat is a Siamese breed and she is going to have kittens. He keeps her in the barn and feeds her and then has her kittens and one has a bent tail.
Eventually the owner of the cat searches for her and the boy has to give her up. The boy ends up keeping one of the kittens with the bent tail.

Capn | 3506 comments If you don't mind a scroll, we've rounded up 47 Siamese cat books fairly recently, here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

I just added a few more using WorldCat, cp: Australia (country of publication), kw: siamese, book, 1970-1990. Most of those won't have a cover or a description, but maybe the title will help?

Anything look right?

EffinghamPL (goodreadscomeffinghampl) | 3 comments I didn't see the exact one. Probably the story is about the boy's life on the farm and I'm remembering the main event, but the title is not quite related to the Siamese cat.

Marzipan was already covered (I had added it to the list given earlier in this thread, before posting message #2).

Midnite: The Story of a Wild Colonial Boy is the link for bookel's suggestion above.

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 5548 comments Half Angel by Barbara Jefferies looks like a match - I checked a copy on archive.org and there is indeed a kitten with a bent / broken tail, who the boy keeps in the end
