This was kind of a fantasy/wartime You've Got Mail situation. It has a really good heart and I really enjoyed the side characters. The main story was compelling and I enjoyed it. The war itself was a little confusing to follow, and it played more into the story the further into the book it got.

This book is a Part 1, which I did not realize until the end.

Jennifer | 55 comments The Thursday Murder Club (Thursday Murder Club, #1) by Richard Osman I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy murder mystery and will be picking up the other books in the series to read soon!

In a seniors retirement village in Kent, England, four pensioners have formed a Thursday Murder Club. They enjoy getting together every Thursday afternoon to dissect the facts in cold-case files that they have managed to get access to. Elizabeth is the undisputed ringleader of the group and she is sure that the group will be able to discover something the authorities missed. Ibrahim, Ron and Joyce each bring their own unique viewpoints and expertise to solving the cases. Things take a step up in the stakes when a local developer is found murdered in his home and the gang determines to solve this case in real time.

Clever, unexpected, heartfelt and funny. 4* The Thursday Murder Club
