Darcey Ash Okay, so, I might be getting two books mixed up, but this is what I remember. It wasn’t a picture book, but it wasn’t really a chapter book either. Every page had illustrations. I read this probably in the mid 2010s but it could have been published a bit earlier. There were three kids (elementary school I believe) and one of them (a boy) started being able to turn invisible after he went to a cave and fell in a puddle (?). I don’t think he could control turning invisible. I don’t remember if the other two kids (a boy and a girl) were already friends with him or if they became friends with him after this incident. The boy who wasn’t invisible had a hearing aid and one day he switched out the device for a recorder so he could spy on the principal (?). There was a mystery that may or may not have been related to invisible boy. I remember that at one point they wrapped the boy in paper or something like a mummy so that they could see him. It might have been in a series but I’m not sure. The cover had the three kids on a jungle gym (monkey bars I think) with the boy partially invisible or maybe just his outline. Set in United States I believe.

Chip Stone walked into his classroom. Bandages covered his face and hands. He looked as if he had been in a giant fire. The whole class gasped, even Keith Broder. Keith was almost never nice to anybody.

"You know how my mom and dad love to explore caves," said Chip. "We were walking through a cave, and it was dark and a little wet. My foot slipped on some water, and I fell into a pool. I felt cold and wet when I got out, but otherwise I felt fine. It was too dark to see anything in the cave. Then when we came out into the light, Mom was yelling, 'I can hear you, but 1 can't see you.' She was wailing. 1 was scared stiff."

to cheer him up. "Mr. Gonshak is asking Ms. Gerber for a date," Justin said to Chip. Chip giggled through his bandages. He knew all about the times that Justin heard secrets the teachers told each other. Justin couldn't hear well in one ear. His teachers spoke into a special microphone that broadcast straight into a tiny radio Justin wore around his neck. But Mr. Gonshak often forgot to turn the microphone off. Justin heard all kinds of things that he wasn't supposed to. Also, people sometimes forgot that he could read lips.

Darcey Ash Yes! That is it! Thank you! I’m going to try to move it to the solved folder but I might not be doing it right.
