I have vague memory of other details, I believe this is a fairly recent book, maybe released within last 10 years. It must have been somewhat popular. I just remember the opening chapter 1 or 2, where this astronaut is sent to check on something on this remote space station or station on a planet. as things seem to be out of ordinary. I think once he docks/lands he takes a shower and some food, but soon enough they start telling him they had problems, some people (or 1 person only, can't remember) have lost their mind for safety reasons are locked in a room. I believe there is also something going on about losing weight in a abnormal way.
