The Last Devil to Die is the 4th by Richard Osman.
More emotional than its predecessors now that readers have formed an attachment to the geriatric Fab Four.

by popular Aussie author Chris Hammer sees Ivan and Nell's homicide investigation uncover more deaths and disappearances in a town where wealthy landowners write their own rules. Great read and good as a standalone too.

Annoying Main Character
Great World-building
Flashbacks adversely affected the pacing for me despite their importance to the story line. There was little to no warning of the time changes and this became disconcerting at times.
Overall, this engrossing, dark, intense, and unsettling thriller has good characterization, even with a main character that wasn’t extremely likeable, and great world-building while pulling on the heart strings.

This is a comprehensive recounting of the 444-days takeover of the US Embassy in Iran in 1979-1981. It read easily, like a crime thriller.

Just finished Noughts and crosses by Malorie Blackman. I enjoyed it despite a rocky start, and I will be reading the second instalment, because I’d like to know how things go for Sephy 🤞.
Life on a small Australian farm in the 1950s means contentment and freedom for Rex, but confinement and restriction for wife Irene, who seems to be the Snake in this novel by Aussie author Kate Jennings. No actual venomous creatures, so no trigger warning 😊necessary. Irene's a piece of work, though!

I'm glad I chose a dozen of Michael Connelly's Bosch series to read through 2024 because it means I'm assured of at least one good read a month. Nobody missed The Concrete Blonde, an obviously interchangeable porn performer, until her body is discovered, which could ruin Bosch's career.

Crime Thriller
Overall, this was a story that demanded my attention throughout the book. Those who enjoy the analytical and scientific side of mysteries will likely enjoy this novel with its intriguing and engrossing mystery along with well-developed characters.
