The Last Devil to Die is the 4th by Richard Osman.
More emotional than its predecessors now that readers have formed an attachment to the geriatric Fab Four.

Atmospheric Mystery
Lake Bend, Victoria, Australia
Annoying Main Character
Great World-building
Flashbacks adversely affected the pacing for me despite their importance to the story line. There was little to no warning of the time changes and this became disconcerting at times.
Overall, this engrossing, dark, intense, and unsettling thriller has good characterization, even with a main character that wasn’t extremely likeable, and great world-building while pulling on the heart strings.

Guests of the Ayatollah: The First Battle in America's War With Militant Islam by Mark Bowden.
This is a comprehensive recounting of the 444-days takeover of the US Embassy in Iran in 1979-1981. It read easily, like a crime thriller.

Behind the scenes narrative of law enforcements over multiple jurisdictions, and public efforts to find hikers reported missing by their loved ones along the PCT. Review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Brunelleschi's Dome: How a Renaissance Genius Reinvented Architecture by Ross King | Narrated by James Cameron Stewart
An open to the public design competition for the completion on the dome to Florence’s newest cathedral yields a surprising winner. A goldsmith and clockmaker’s revolutionary idea of a dome construction without flying buttresses or center columns that still stands today. Review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

It was fun to read the impressive work arounds and ingenuity displayed by everyone, no wonder it was made into a movie.

A frustrating read spanning thirty years. From youthful naïveté to an experienced woman who foolishly refuses to tame her idealism.

Police Procedural combined with Psychology
39th book in the series

Nobody missed The Concrete Blonde, an obviously interchangeable porn performer, until her body is discovered, which could ruin Bosch's career.

Fantasy Mystery
Good characterization
Great world-building
Entertaining and fun read

Impressive how Hallett could set multiple scenes, introduce the large cast, timeline, mostly through emails. I didn't mind that some of the delivery was implausible (true, it'd be faster to just call or text, no one in today's age emails that much), but it didn't take away from my enjoyment. What did however, was...

An incredibly imaginative time traveling narrative spanning centuries from the ancient world to modern day and the future. Review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Historical Mystery
Victorian London November 1866
Overall, this dark, gritty, and engaging book has great characterization with likeable main characters, excellent worldbuilding, and a solid mystery.

Beautifully written story of Sarah and Hetty “Handful”, daughter of a slave owner and slave respectively, and their friendship spanning throughout their lives. From youthful exuberance to adult tragedies, their challenges are beautifully chronicled with equally interesting secondary characters.

Horror / Romance / Sisterhood and more
Overall, this was a great premise that delivered more than I expected.

My short review is here. This was a striking read, I was on the fence in the beginning but it really grew on me.

A Merciful Promise
A Merciful Secret
New favorite Author Kendra Elliot. Exciting way to escape for a while. Fun to read one after another.
Close to the Bone
Greg Iles, one of the absolute best authors ever. This was a novella, I missed. Not as thrilling as his books.
Twenty Years Later
New author for me. Great book. Have to read more of Charlie Donlea.
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry
Another book out of my normal genre. Very good. Different kind of escape, clean, no murders, lol. Great story.

Crime Thriller
Overall, this was a story that demanded my attention throughout the book. Those who enjoy the analytical and scientific side of mysteries will likely enjoy this novel with its intriguing and engrossing mystery along with well-developed characters.
