Fantasy. A female main character who moves to a new place and ends up stopping at a police station after getting lost at night

I believe I read it 2013-2015 and that the main character was a woman, she moved to somewhere new and couldn't find her apartment/residence, passed a police station and then decided to stop and go ask them for help.
In another section, main character and a few others are all in a forest at night, looking for someone and she notes that there's two sets of boot tracks and that one set belongs to a taller man as his stride is further apart than the other
