If you think it's ugly, it counts!

Edie | 1152 comments Completed Beautiful Country which fits perfectly for the immigrant experience prompt. This memoir chronicles the early years in the U.S. of an undocumented Chinese immigrant in NYC. Qian Julie Wang, a graduate of Swarthmore College and Yale Law School, is now a successful lawyer. This book gives a graphic description of the life immigrants can face.

LOL! It's not an island I'd like to visit! :-)

Works for me.

message 56: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 559 comments I read a quick one today - the only prompt it fits is a book with less than 200 pages. Sitters

message 57: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments Three books left for silver, I think all these prompts have books in progress:
Read a book related to Christmas
Read a book with a fruit on the cover
Read a book starting with a letter in the words BACON or PIG

My sci-fi book is short stories so I can pause before the last one if necessary. It's shorter than I thought.

message 58: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 239 comments I should finish the book for fruit on the cover sometime today. We only have 2 marked for the Christmas prompt, and one of those books is mine. I KNOW I won't be able to finish my Christmas book before at least Saturday, so hoping the other one will be completed! It would be fun to get to Gold!

message 59: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments I just have a little bit of the Q&A left on Before, After, Alone: A Planetfall Universe short story collection so I can finish whenever. I feel it might be more useful for gold than the pig/bacon silver prompt which looks like it has a lot of options.

It's Friday evening here, so if I started a Christmas book it definitely won't be read before Saturday.

message 60: by Allie (new)

Allie | 44 comments I just realized that I have This Winter sitting on my shelf. I could read that tonight :)

message 61: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments I've put mine down against the bacon one and I'll find a sci-fi novella to read. That just leaves Christmas with whoever gets there first and then we're onto gold!

message 62: by Allie (new)

Allie | 44 comments I apologize from the depth of my heart; I can not figure out how to format the spreadsheet.
But I did put in the last silver prompt!

message 63: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments Yay, thank you Allie! I'm about the finish Rogue Protocol so perfect timing. I guess we'll just see how far we get with gold this weekend.

message 64: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 559 comments I finished Hearing Maud and added it as non-fiction. I won't finish my other book before the end of the readathon so will just add pages. It's Sunday morning here and I have a free day but it's beautiful weather so will spend the morning working in the garden and save reading for the afternoon. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

message 65: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments Ive finished The Woman in Me and put it in for a title that begins with The King.
I'm hoping to finish Gold! today, but not guaranteed.

message 66: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments Okay finished my final book of the read-a-thon with GOLD! (The Kincaid Saga, #1) by Thomas Greenbank
I've slotted it in for book with 0 in page count as my book has 305 pages. Lucky for the bad weather here in Adelaide today - lots of reading time!

message 67: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments Bad weather on both sides of the world! It's absolutely miserable here and so many roads are flooded. Of course the dog still wants walking 🙄 Gonna hunker down with more Murderbot this afternoon.

message 68: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments I've finished Exit Strategy for "larger than life character", I think Murderbot counts. I won't finish another book today, but may get a few more pages in.

message 69: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments I think we have done pretty well with the challenge. Definitely a busy time of the year so harder to fit reading in.

message 70: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1152 comments Completed No One Leaves the Castle. It filled several prompts we still need, but put in "with a hat on the cover" While hats are not prominent on the cover, at least one of the small figures looking out the castle windows has a very small hat on. Sorry I couldn't do more. It was a very busy weekend with family activities.

message 71: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments Good reading everyone! We got pretty close and it was a lot of prompts to get through, especially for this time of year. I've only been reading one book a week lately so getting through 6, even short ones, was a huge improvement.

message 72: by JessicaMHR (new)

JessicaMHR | 313 comments I managed to get through one last book last night before falling asleep. I used A Shiloh Christmas for a book with a 7 letter word, which left us with only 3 empty prompts and only 6 more candy canes needed.

We all did great. I know I felt very accomplished this week. I was kind of irking my sister because I was like 'No, I gotta read!' LOL!
