The main character (can’t remember if it’s a boy or girl) lives with their parents in a village where dragons/giants are no longer living. She/he encounters a dragon/giant and hides them at the home of an older family friend who lives away from the village. They all have tea at the friends house. Likely published after 2018.

The Dragonling series by Jackie French Koller? Published in the 90s but recently re-released with new covers since 2018.

Thank you to all for your suggestions but they don't seem to be the book I read. I have updated the topic as I am now thinking that the character that had to be hidden could have been some creature other than a dragon (maybe a giant?).
This one was published in 2022, but it’s called The Ogress and the Orphans?
