Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Some people are addicted to soda, some to coffee, some to chocolates. I'm seriously addicted to Book of the Month Club (BOTM). I wait on pins and needles at the beginning of the month to see what book options I have to pick from and how many I can get. Because you can NEVER have enough books, right??!! So, this list is my backlog of BOTM books I need to read and get off my shelves so I can get more books. 📚

My 12:
✔️1. The Maid - 5/25
✔️2. Bright Young Women - 4/15
3. The Five-Star Weekend
✔️4. None of This Is True - 7/14
✔️5. The Last Love Note - 10/23
6. The Only One Left
7. Someone Else's Shoes
✔️8. No One Can Know - 11/2
✔️9. The Two Lives of Lydia Bird - 3/17
✔️10. She Started It - 1/7
✔️11. Love, Theoretically - 5/3
12. A Winter in New York

Plus 4:
✔️1. Part of Your World - 3/21
2. Again and Again
✔️3. The Connellys of County Down - 8/23
✔️4. Adelaide - 3/9

The Maid (Molly the Maid, #1) by Nita Prose Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll The Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell The Last Love Note by Emma Grey The Only One Left by Riley Sager Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver She Started It A Novel by Sian Gilbert Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood A Winter in New York by Josie Silver Part of Your World (Part of Your World, #1) by Abby Jimenez Again and Again by Jonathan Evison The Connellys of County Down by Tracey Lange Adelaide by Genevieve Wheeler

3 Lists!! I am not mad at it.

I just added Bright, Young Women to my tbr yesterday. Readers really loved the story and characters; so, what's one more book.

Good luck with all 3 lists; and happy reading, Lindsey!!

I am thinking that Riley Sager book is like And Then There Were None, which I loved. Especially since I could not figure out who the killer was.

I have been on Goodreads since 2011, and even when I finish the challenge early; I never, ever, want to do a 2nd list. Ever. 🥴🥴

Yes! It sounds like your BOTM club is something that I desperately want to do and also something I should steer clear of at this time. :-)

I will get back to you on the buddy reads. I can never plan anything until I know who wins the GRC Awards, since I try to read all of those every year, and there are so many of them. :-)

Ok, so it looks like Weyward made the list of winners. Totally up for a buddy read on that one. Check & Mate i want to read and can get thru BOTM, so let me know whenever you want to read that one and I'm in. I do have Yellowface on my ipad and can get Happy Place from the library. So those are some other buddy read options.....

Lea and I will buddy read Yellowface in Feb, and Weyward in Sept (unless I didn't mixed up the dates). Would these dates work for you, too?

Ioana is correct on the dates; we would LOVE it if you were able to join us. Alissa mentioned wanting to read Check & Mate together and I think we decided on June due to library issues. And with all these buddy reads at the beginning of the year, I was thinking Happy Place for the summer; what do you think about July or August?

When are you thinking about reading Love, Theoretically? Or Bright Young Women? Or basically your whole list? LOL.

No Way. I would feel so overwhelmed.

If I did a 2nd list, it would all be short stories on Kindle.

message 30: by Lindsey (last edited Dec 13, 2023 02:03PM) (new)

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Ok, so let me get dates straight-

Jan - Warrior Girl Unearthed
Feb - Yellowface
June - Check & Mate
Jumy/Aug - The Happy Place
Aug - Holly
Sept - Weyward

Is that right so far? If so I'm good with those dates.

Alissa and I had talked about reading Bright Young Women in January.

I'm thinking Love, Theoretically I was going to read in March. Would that work with you?

Lindsey, you've got all the dates straight. What a great reading year. Let's add Love, Theoretically to March. I will try to read Bright Young Women with you and Alissa in January, but the library wait is kind of long. Maybe I'll get lucky...but you guys, don't wait for me. :-)

message 32: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2122 comments My library wait for Bright Young Women is long too. 8 people waiting per copy, so 24 weeks? more or less. Lea, do you want a separate buddy read? Or Lindsey, Alissa, would you move it later in the year?

On a separate note, have you seen this? Are GR's days numbered? https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 33: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments I'm totally open to moving it. Alissa, would that work for you?

message 34: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Would March work for you two- Lea and Ioana for Bright Young Women?

message 35: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2122 comments I don't think so; if I need to wait 24 weeks, that would be 6 months, maybe end of May?
If you want to read it sooner, no worries, fit it in whenever it works for you.

message 36: by Alissa (new)

Alissa Patrick (apatrick12211) | 1802 comments Yep I can wait!

message 37: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2122 comments Library update: 7 people waiting per copy, so we're down to max 21 weeks wait. So mid-late April, impatient girl? :-)

Lea (leaspot) | 3635 comments Ioana wrote: "Library update: 7 people waiting per copy, so we're down to max 21 weeks wait. So mid-late April, impatient girl? :-)"

Hehe, late April, or May works for me. 😁

And I have Weyward moved to March.

Wow, what a book to start the year off with! It felt a little bit like the game clue - it was the butler in the library with the candlestick. I enjoyed the game even though I figured out the twist pretty early on. This book is a good reminder of what can happen if you are the one doing the bullying! A fun thriller.

And i had a lot of fun buddy reading this with Alissa!! 😊

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Finished my 2nd book - Adelaide Adelaide by Genevieve Wheeler . 2 stars. 😒

Ok, I know I am in the minority here with not liking this book. First let me start off by saying I have the utmost respect for what the author was wanting to accomplish - showing an aspect of mental health in hopes we as readers could learn, help us understand and be more empathic to this issue. On thst note, I get it amd I do believe she accomplished this. The book as a whole was super frustrating to me. The time line jumps back and forth and then present time and half of it I was confused where we were in the timeline. I hated Rory with every fiber of my being. Sometimes that works for authors, in this case it did not for me. I was excited to read this after reading the premise. All I can really say is this was just a frustrating read for me and it didn't resonate or land right with me. Having said that, there are so many strong 4 and 5 star reviews, my review is in the minority.

The positive was doing this as a buddy read with Alissa. Although I have to admit I was a bad buddy read partner. With being sick it took me longer to read. Here's hoping my next book is much better.
