She's right about the trigger warnings though - so make sure you look at them. This book has some doozies.
I started it last night, thanks. I saw the author's trigger warnings but it's not something that bothers me in books fortunately, but thanks for the heads up in case!
That is a very messed up book... But it has its entertainment value :D

Lion is up next, I'm part-way through a mermaid but not enjoying it, and haven't a clue about the others yet!

As long as there is a theme of family with your magic, the type is magic is inconsequential. I would say Greek Gods could be considered magical, but are they a family - that's the question.
They're all related to each other in one way or another (often in more than 1, lol!).They may not be a very functional family, but then, I can think of a few more of those... 😆

What are you doing for MPG Folklore? I picked a possible, but I'm not sold.

Not sure if it used to be - I do a lot of pre-choosing for these at the beginning of the year!. It was a re-read of Dead Sea, very good book. It has tagged sea folklore by 1, so I'll probably look for something else now. Will let you know what I come up with

I have looked a lot for MPG Folklore and was/am not lucking out, which must be why I chose that one.
My MPG folklore still bugs me, as it's under 200 pages, but I struggled to find anything else.

Who knows! Was tagged in several books though not high enough for that MPG for my books :(

I enjoyed it and thought the writing was quite good, although I also remember the story was a bit slow moving overall.

My daughter got married last year and I did all the planning, so I know what that is like! It'll all be worth it on the day 😉

I struggle a bit with strong magical realism stuff. I am working right now on one for Disney that feels like magical realism a bit to me as well, I am very new to that sub-genre - it's Zafón's, Graves's The Shadow of the Wind (The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón and Lucia Graves, for Arabic. It's beautifully written but I move slowly with this stuff and can't sit and binge for hours with it if that makes sense.
Like Lexi, I have plenty left - going to focus as much as possible on hopefully finishing mine. We'll see!
I need to finish my more intimidating for me books earlier next year!

I'm trying to finish this before we go up to Scotland on Friday, because I won't be reading more than a couple of pages a day while I'm there, so that'll be it for the year for me.I *think* this cover is from underwater looking up?

Abandoned my mermaid book because it's awful but hit on a replacement thankfully!
Yeah it looks underwater, and the theme is water based so I'd say it's a safe bet Sammy.

Ugh I know, I am focusing on trying to finish all my remaining books!December was a slower month for me as well, I'm still hoping to finish up about 5 to be fully finished.
3 Books to go to finish - One letter A for a spellout and the two December Bonus Books!
Two to go but had to drop into novellas for the last few. I have started both of them so hopefully will get both done in the next 3.5 days.

I'm on my final book as well!
