If you are willing to place one of your February reading choices in the hands of another person, leave a comment here with at least five books and no more than ten from your TBR shelf. Participants need to leave comments no later than January 25th.

Here's how it will work:
Sophia will match people up and leave a comment with a list of who will choose for whom.
When you see the person you are to pick for, then just look at their list in the above comments and leave a new comment with their name and the book you chose for them by January 31st.

You also need to watch and see what book your person chose from your list for you.
You have the rest of the month to read the book.

So if this sounds like something you would like to do, just comment below leaving your name and list of book choices for someone to pick your February book.

Craftyhj | 348 comments I always like to have a little theme when it comes to the "pick for me" challenges. This time I am going to go with the category I call "Other centric". By this I mean it includes P&P characters but the main focus is not on D/E. Some also contain characters from other Austen novels.

My choice are,
1) Mary and the Captain: A Pride and Prejudice Continuation by Nancy Lawrence (Mary centric)
2) Mrs Bennet Is Dead! - Charlotte's Gambit by P.R. Hood (Charlotte centric)
3) Pride Unprejudiced by Ronald McGowan (Mr Collins centric)
4) I Am Jael: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Laraba Kendig (Georgiana centric)
5) Prideful & Persuaded: A Jane Austen Crossover Romance by Bethany Delleman (Caroline centric)
6) The Heiress: The Revelations of Anne de Bourgh by Molly Greeley (Anne de Bourgh centric)
7) The Redemption of Lydia Wickham: A Pride and Prejudice Sequel/Variation by M.J. Stratton (Lydia centric)
8) The Colonel & The Lady: OR A Matter of Trust - A Regency Romance inspired by P&P by Sydney Salier (Colonel Fitzwilliam centric)
9) Pemberley Haunted: A Pride and Prejudice Continuation by Jessica L. Jackson (Kitty centric)

Howdy, everyone! I'm so glad you could join our first 'someone else pick it' for the year.

I have randomly drawn names from those who submitted a list of books and will put those just below.

For those who are new to this fun activity, here is what you do next:
1. Find your name in the left hand column and then go to the right hand column to see whose name you drew.
2. Go back up in the discussion thread and find that person's list. Choose a book from that list. And, then make a comment to that person of what book you chose for them. Do this by JANUARY 31st, please.
3. Watch for the person who drew your name to post their pick from your booklist.
4. Start your books on or after February 1st and feel free to come back and leave a comment of what you thought of the book.
If you want to discuss as you're reading, you can comment on your impressions as you go. Just make sure to mark any spoilery comments at the beginning of your comment.

Howdy, Heather!

I recently listened to a good Laraba Kendig book so I'm curious about others. So, I'm picking I Am Jael for you so you can let me know if its good. Haha!

Kirk (goodreadscomkirkc) | 265 comments Hi Sophia,
More than a few intriguing choices! But I hope you love(get it?) Holidays with Jane: Will You Be Mine?

message 16: by Katja (new)

Katja | 314 comments I am only familiar with two books in Faustine's list. The LBD book sounds fun, the Kendig story sounds like a bit too much of a commitment at 591 pages (If you didn't like it it'd be my fault you slogged through it lol), Kauer is an entirely unfamiliar author to me.

I enjoyed both His Father's Choice and impulse and Initiative (if this is the same book as To Conquer Mr. Darcy?) enough to re-read. Let's go with I&I because it stands alone and HFC leaves some strands for the next books in the series which could be annoying unless planning to read them too

Thanks for the pick and for saving from reading a +500 page book that I might not like after page 3 ;).
Looking forward to reading Impulse and Initiative!

Thanks! I wasn’t sure because Kirk’s message includes only one book.

That's weird. Goodreads must be on the fritz. I see five books.

Craftyhj | 348 comments Anji - I haven't read many of your choices but I remember enjoying The Long Journey Home: A Pride & Prejudice Variation by J. Dawn King. I think I probably went for the audio option.

Excellent, since that is one which probably would have ended up further down the list ;)

Oh wow! I can't believe I flubbed that and missed there were two Katies when I made the list. I'm so sorry to you both.

I went in and edited my list to help with the mess- up. If you can choose a book for abmom, that would be great and I'll pick one for you since Patricia is already picking for the other Katie.

I'm picking Northanger Abbey for you. Hope its a good one. :)

I made a big boo boo, Katie. And, I apologize that my mistake affects you having someone to pick for this time around. :( Again, I am sorry and will not make that mistake if you are both participating in the next 'pick it' challenge.

message 47: by abmom (new)

abmom | 71 comments Katie Thiboutot, Thank you for your selection. I enjoyed the book a lot. It was beautifully written with admirable Elizabeth and Darcy.

message 48: by Katja (new)

Katja | 314 comments Thanks Anji, I have finished At the Assembly. The original characters seemed very familiar so I think I may have read this back when it was posting on Pemberley or DWG. This Darcy seemed very aware that Elizabeth had a problem with him and I am curious how the heck will he end up blindsiding himself at Hunsford.

message 49: by Faustine (new)

Faustine | 9 comments Thanks Katja! Sorry, I tried a few times but I barely made it after the sample of Impulse and Initiative (= to conquer Mr Darcy). It was simply too wordy for me. Actually, I thought the book was almost over when I realised that I was at the end of the sample not of the whole book! The writing was good, though.

message 50: by Katja (new)

Katja | 314 comments too bad! but at least you've got time to read something more to your taste
