I haven't read it, but isn't it a Bildungsroman?

Does anyone know if Oraya, the mc, is 24 in this The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King?I just read the first book in the duology and the mc is 23.
Hi all,Looking to fit in Shuggie Bain, The Eighth Life, The Atlas Six and House of Earth and Blood.

HOEAB is enemies-to-lovers and book where someone dies in the first chapter. Unfortunately, the wiki says Bryce starts 23 and skips to 25 in book 1, so useless for that prompt.
Whitney wrote: "Hey everyone! I just wanted to hop on here and say I work as a librarian if anyone needs recommendations for that prompt :) Happy reading in 2024!"Hi Whitney!
Thanks for the generous offer of a recommendation! I do need to fill in that prompt & would love to take you up on it.
To give you some ideas:
- I love character driven books. My favorite series in the last few years was the Seasonal Quartet by Ali Smith.
- My favorite books I read that were published in 2023 were The Fraud (Zadie Smith) & The Vaster Wilds (Lauren Groff).
- Mystery stories are guilty pleasures, but not really into true crime.
TIA!

I have The Atlas Six pencilled in for either "more than 3 POVs" or "author used a pen name"

Looking to fit in the remaining 12 in 12 books I haven't placed yet. Any ideas?-Belladonna
-Love in Color: Mythical Tales from Around the World, Retold
-Daughter of Sparta
-Jade City
-Stealing Infinity
-Curious Tides
-The Dawnhounds
-The Poisons We Drink
-Disorientation
-Only a Monster
Whitney wrote: "Looking to fit in the remaining 12 in 12 books I haven't placed yet. Any ideas?.."If you don't know the other name for belladonna you could look it up in a dictionary. Love in Colour has some magical realism, I can't remember if any of the stories are enemies to lovers or second chance. As a short story collection it has more than 3 POVs, or maybe you typically avoid short stories?

I thought it might be but I’m not sure wether the character is old enough

It is the poster child for Bildungsroman!!

Hi All! I want to reread all 7 Harry Potter books. I think I’d be set for the “published 24 years ago”, “dragons”, “cozy fantasy” and “magical realism” prompts. Any other places they’d fit?
Mallory wrote: "Hi All! I want to reread all 7 Harry Potter books. I think I’d be set for the “published 24 years ago”, “dragons”, “cozy fantasy” and “magical realism” prompts. Any other places they’d fit?"Death in the first chapter, bildungsroman, plus I'm sure they were recommended by book sellers and librarians, and a book where a character sleeps for more than 24 hours (especially if you count being petrified)

whoa whoa whoa WHOA ... Harry Potter is that old now? 24 years ago?? It's not possible. I distinctly remember buying these books.

Piper wrote: "Finally getting around to reading Pet Sematary, any ideas?"If you don't read horror, that could be 11. genre you typically avoid; if you wish to go to Maine, it could be 17. travel destination on your bucket list; might be recommended by 14.bookseller or 15 librarian.
Hi. So I’m super excited about the new challenge as I’m determined to complete it this year. I went to a new book store in Waco Texas and forgot my list at home but picked up four books and I know where one will go but could y’all help with the other three? Ballet shoes
Lapvona
Starless sea
Fourth wing (book about dragons)
Thanks in advance

I don't think it's cozy fantasy. Enemies to lovers is a stretch. A second-chance romance or a LGBTQ+ romance are also a stretch. Do you read a lot of fantasy? (Could you use it for genre you don't read?) It was probably recommended by librarians.

Hoping to be able to fit a few titles that have been languishing on my TBR into a prompt: The Red Tent by Anita Diamant

Does anyone know which prompt for The Brothers Hawthrone - Jennifer Lynn BarnesI wanted to do 3 or more POV but only the epilogue is the 3rd POV

Demon Copperhead is a classic Bildungsroman, and a good one too!

If I remember correctly, Little Fires Everywhere has at least three POVs
Rachel Anne wrote: "where does the firekeepers daughter fit?"They both feel like a stretch, but:
prompt 07: the main character is a hockey player, so women's sports might fit
prompt 27: if you count the prologue I think you could say someone dies in the first chapter
But the book is great, so mabye worth a stretch :D

Makala wrote: "Hi all - any ideas for where to put The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave? Thanks!"If you have Sausalito, CA or Austin, TX on your bucket list you could use it for that.
It surely made a bookseller's recommended list. They're always putting up displays for Reese's bookclub picks.
I have never done this challenge before but I read The Housemaid in the last two days and I don’t know where it should fit. Any suggestions?
Hello! My in person book club has posted some of our 2024 picks. I am unfamiliar with most of them. Any idea where (if) I can squeeze them into the challenge? Prophet Song by Paul Lynch
West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge
The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave.

The Seven Year Slip would work for magical realism.
I'm not sure if this book fits anywhere... it's a parenting book. The Whole-Brain Child: Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind by Daniel J. Siegel, Tina Payne Bryson

That's a good question! It says she's 32 now. So I'm guessing it covers her at 24 at some point...I hope.
Help, I’m struggling to fit Bright Young Women in, I was thinking with character who died in the first chapter but that feels wrong

Bad Cree is horror by a BIPOC author.
That's the only book I know from the list!
