Cristina Olmos Please enlighten me. If Peter Marks was shot dead in Chapter 40 of the The Bourne Betrayal

why is he still in The Bourne Deception as chief of CI Operations?

I've already read The Bourne Sanction and The Bourne Imperative. Is there something i have missed?
