There is a Kindle version of the Joan Coggin book, and I’ve been looking for an excuse to buy it.

Thanks, I’ve got both ready to go!

I’m going to try Miss Marjoribanks as it’s my first time reading the author, readily available and her highest rated book. I’ll lurk in the January discussion on the other two, if that’s ok.

Done, link worked at my end! ;o)

Chatterton Square by E.H. Young
Little Boy Lost by Marghanita Laski
Some Tame Gazelle by Barbara Pym
Good Behaviour by Molly Keane
Anderby Wold by Winifred Holtby
Thanks Marilyn. You have some of my favourites there, but I haven't read Anderby Wold. They'd all make for good discussions I think. Especially the first two.

Excellent. If it's anything like South Riding there will be plenty to discuss.
BTW, Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont is only 99p on Kindle in the UK at the moment, I think it was mentioned further up-thread, so it might be worth snapping up if anyone would like a read of that one.

Looking back, there is some interest in The Edwardians, Loving And Giving, Anderby Wold and Dont Tell Alfred
And then more generally Angela Thirkell, Barbara Pym, Elizabeth Taylor and some Furrowed Middlebrow titles. The FM titles mentioned so far are The Lark, and A Harp in Lowndes Square so I will slot these two in as secondary lighter reads.
I'll check back through to see what I've missed.

Marilyn, we did read [book:Some Tame Gazelle|6669355] last year and the threads stay open, so you could use this thread to chat about it, and anyone else who would like to read this one.

I will join in in February, March May and June. I saw some interest in Miss Read and Angela Thirkell. I would be interested in reading the Thrush Green books and the High Rising books if the group chooses a book to start on in each series.
That's great! And really nice to hear from you; hope you're keeping well.
Angela Thirkell was mentioned a few times. I think Susan's next was Cheerfulness Breaks In, so that could be a summer read, maybe July? Thrush Green books would also be nice as a lighter read, and it doesn't seem to matter which order they are read in. Does anyone have any preference?

I will start reading the High Rising and Thrush Green books in order and just let me know which books others want to read.
Yes, The King's General in Feb.
I loved Vera, apparently one of du Mauriers inspirations for Rebecca. I'll try to fit in a reread when you read it. When were you thinking Tracey? March sounds good.

Thank you, sorry I must have missed this - and March/April does sound good for “Vera”, if it works for others.

Would people be interested in the Thrush Green series in order? Maybe every other month starting May?

Ohhh, same here on Vera, whenever it works for others.

Perfect. Does May suit us? With one every other month. I can always xet threads up earlier, or move books around if we want to dive in earlier.
I was wondering whether anyone else is planning on pre-ordering MISS GRANBY'S SECRET or The Bastard of Pinsk. when Furrowed Middlebrow release it? (August 5th), and if so would there be interest in reading it in August?

Gosh, that's a punchy price. I have found a paperback listing, though it's not complete yet. I'm assuming there will be a kindle edition available.
Miss Granby's Secret: or The Bastard of Pinsk now has a Kindle edition available. I have just pre-ordered a copy for 49p, a considerably better price.

I also had an offer to pre-order a paperback copy - which I did - but that offer seems to be gone now. I struggle with reading on the Kindle, but know other folks really use it.
That's odd, I thought the US price would be similar. I just checked and it's still 49p in the UK, but might be worth buying at that price quickly, it's unlikely to come down further, and may go up.

Thanks for this Tania. I've just pre-ordered the Kindle book, wow, 49p is a steal!! I'll likely buy the paperback later.

Thanks for the heads up Tania, I have pre-ordered the Kindle edition too.

Thanks Susan. In my local town the majority of boards displayed are for the Green Party by a country mile, followed by Lib Dems, so it will be interesting to see how much Labour will win by. With all that said, I'm in North Cotswolds and the Tories will get in here.

Shall I put Miss Granby's Secret: or The Bastard of Pinsk down for an August read? It is available from the 5th.
Also, looking back there was some interest in reading The Feast by Margaret Kennedy, that would make a great August read, set in Cornwall in the Summer.

Can you access it now? It might be easier to go to 'polls' at the top right if the groups homepage.
Is anyone else unable to use it?
