This was published posthumously, written by a half Filipino author who was in a graduate writing program, Johns Hopkins, if I am correct. Or Brown? (Not MFA but MA program, characteristic to the time before MFA booming toward mid 2000's) The novel was about a half Fllipina American teen, who had recently got suspended from school for her insubordination, was now grounded and banished to Manila where she was living with her grandmother. Consequently, she makes the most of her alienation and aptitude for her cyber engineering and explores her hacking skills in order to challenge the world just with her wits and net operation.
