YA Fantasy book where an orphan girl who doesn't know her lineage and lives at some monastery under a man who can wield magic.

Okay, so I read this book series many years ago, probably 2015-2017 on Kindle Unlimited. All i remember is that is about this young girl who was orphaned and left at this monastery (if that's what it was even called). I believe the time period was a very long time ago even though it wasn't mentioned specifically. The monastery was run by an old man who could wield magic (I can't remember the exact type of magic). The young girl lived in the kitchens and had to make the food and pastries with another girl. One night, a man comes in and hides out with them in the kitchen (he was an injured magic wielder) and the man and the girl bond and he shows her magic. It was published in English in the US. I don't really remember much after that. I hope you guys can help!
