I finished 2 books today. The Fury of the Gods
John Gwynne
I rated this 2 stars. I found the plot too dull (mainly hack and slash) and the size difference between Lik-Rifa and the humans was incomprehensible.
Cold as Thunder
Jerry Apps
4 stars! I really enjoyed this Dystopian story set here in Wisconsin. It made me think too. I do recommend this book if you like dystopian stories.
Late last night I had finished the memoir/ science book about neurodiverse visual conditions Do I Know You?: A Faceblind Reporter’s Journey into the Science of Sight, Memory, and Imagination
Sadie Dingfelder
4 stars
It covers stuff like face blindness (you don't recognize people you know if they change something about themselves), aphantasia (you can't visualize), topographical agnosia (you get lost in hallways and maybe lost outside too), stereoblindess (no depth perception - you can't do those Magic Eye puzzles), SDAM (think / memory is in words not visual)... And faceblindness is called prosopagnosia. The author tells her own entertaining problems with these conditions but it's also packed with science info.
Gilding & the Making of Gold Leaf by Richard H. Barnes. It was helpful and informative. I gave it five stars.
Yesterday I finished reading The Fear Place
Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
5 stars! This was a short quick read but it was very vivid and full of suspense. I had no idea what would happen to Doug as he was alone in a national park and a cougar was in the area too.. plus there was a problem with his older brother missing up on some dangerous cliffs. And Doug is scared of heights! An exciting story.
Then late the day before (Thursday night) I had finished
Allergic: Our Irritated Bodies in a ChangingWorld
Theresa MacPhail
4 stars!
Found out lots of new fascinating tidbits of information in this book, things I hadn't known before.. the author did lots of interviews with experts in here. The book covers skin conditions as well as food + environmental allergies.
I just finished The Empire of Dirt
Francesca Manfredi
4 stars
A coming of age story set in Italy in a small village where rumors are going around that the family who lives in The Blind House is cursed. All freaky bad luck befalls young Valentina and she thinks it's her fault.
Ride the wave 5 🌟 such a good summer read highly recommend. I bought it originally for sprayed edges 😂
I just finished reading the western classic that has a very strong mystery elements and man versus nature elements tooThe Lonesome Gods
Louis L'Amour
Rated 5 stars!!
This story is definitely one of the best I have read recently! Lots of action, gunfights, survival out in the desert plus all of those mysteries running through the plot. This is no "revenge" cowboy story like some westerns are. It's so much more!
Now I have just finished reading Realm of Ice and Sky: Triumph, Tragedy, and History's Greatest Arctic Rescue
Buddy Levy
Rated it 4 stars.
The book has 3 sections. The first section was very dull. But the story for section 2 and 3 were great! Especially the third part: life or death on the pack ice! It's a disaster story!! Very vivid. If you never heard of the Italia (the airship) and Nobile her commander than you should definitely check this out.
One could easily skip the first part and just read the other two parts.
The TwentyBy Sam Holland. She is a fairly new author. She has 3 books out and I rate them. all at a 5. If you like Serial Killer books, she is great. Her books get you from the first page.Love them.
The Bourne Escape
4 stars
Read as an ARC from NetGalley
Jason Bourne is back and close to canon.

I just finished the lighthearted fantasy about saving magical greenhouses and understanding other people The Enchanted Greenhouse
Sarah Beth Durst
5 stars!
This is quite the rare story in my opinion!
I finished listening to on the way home Ann Patchett's Bel Canto which is a wonderful take on a hostage crisis. I also finished last night Tokyo Revengers Vol. 3-4 and Crying Freeman Vol. 1. Crying Freeman is a qualified good. Koike has done better work, but it reeks of late 80, early 90s ideas of what drug gangsters were like. I put Revengers aside for too long, I barely remembered the plot, but its good.
Last night I had finished The Hideout
Egon Hostovský
This is a classic World War II story by a Czech author - about a man hiding out in a basement.. it left me feeling kind of confused by the end.
3 stars
I have now finished The Bewitching
Silvia Moreno-Garcia
4 stars
This book has a strong mystery - thriller aspect to it which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed guessing who the killer / witch was. The plot has a triple timeline of 1908, 1934 and 1998. And yes I guessed who it was! If you pay attention you can guess it.
Cherry Blossoms After Winter, Vol. 1
Bamwoo
I finished this manga last night..
The plot in here annoyed me - I didn't like the bullying or how the popular brother was apparently blind to it all of those years - so I rated it only 2 stars.
