Checking in for the shelf and will scout for my book tomorrow (BTW, I'm in Japan so shelves come at the start of my work day, so can't generally get here for a few hours at least).
I've not had much name-idea luck recently...
I've been team captain before and can certainly do it again, but do have a busy work schedule (and sure I'm not the only one). So, if a bit slower-paced captaincy for adding announcements and such won't bother you, I can do it. Oh, requesting stamps is not on the "slow" list for me...lol!

I'm ok with whatever time you can post, thanks. :-)

And I'll just snatch the captain hat as no objections have been raised!
Half-way through my first shelf book, and quite enjoying it. So happy to have a little Bingo direction in reading choices as I was at the "need to find a new book" stage after binge re-reading several series. Gah.

The first page caught me with descriptions that painted a vivid picture in my mind...and the recipes at the back!
Katie Lightfoot decided to make a big change to the kind of job she dreamed of doing as a baker, being rather tired of the rut of the bakery she had been working at. Her aunt and uncle were opening a bakery in Savannah, Georgia, and it was a perfect partnership for them all.
As she's getting settled in and they are prepping for Opening Day, a rather unpleasant local business woman is murdered after a business-meeting lunch she basically forced the bakers into holding.
Katie and her Aunt Lucy are determined to find the real murderer after Uncle Ben becomes the main suspect. As Katie is trying to sort out clues and people, she finds out there are a lot of things she doesn't know about herself, her family~particularly that they are a family of witches.
This was a fun read, nice surprises, and well-drawn characters. I put the next in series on hold, and can't wait to see what happens next as Katie settles into her new reality in Savannah.

Thoughts:
I picked up my first Molly Harper novel last year...perhaps it was another round of Bingo? I really enjoyed the three series I read...well, read most of. They were at the library, but the library didn't have all her series in their entirety. This, Half-Moon Hollow series, is one where they have parts, but missing the first couple of books. I like to read in order...so skipped it. Fast-forward to Free Space search, and I remembered I quite enjoyed her books as I was scrolling through SOS' books.
And, yes, I quite enjoyed this one, too. (I still want to get a hold of the first ones, but book-budgeting personal challenge...sigh).
Anna Winthrop, mild-mannered, rather neurotic archivist, is hand-delivering an especially valuable book back to its owner, vampire Jane Jameson. The tiny aircraft Anna is taking to Half-Moon Hollow to complete this errand has her, another vampire (Finn) and the pilot. Someone really wants the book, and the pilot is the errand boy. He doesn't get the book, and Anna escapes firey death thanks to Finn grabbing her and jumping out of the plane (sans parachute).
That's chapter one. Wilderness adventures, snark, funny advice column chapter headers, betrayal and pesky wildlife.... The story moves along at a fast and funny pace. Anna does conquer (at least starts to) her neuroses and enjoys some very-deserved payback along the way. The book ends up where it should, and the heroine ends up on the path to a better life.
I'll keep reading this, even out of order, and tucked one in my library shelves just in case it fits the next shelf...

The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix
Date Read: 10/24
Fits: Shelf #5 Supernatural Thrillers #22 (Page 1) with food on cover (Peaches)
Rating: 4 stars
Review: The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires is a thriller horror story about wives in an old village who met every week to read a certain book. (How delightful it is to be in a Book Club in their age and busy life) who encountered an unbelievable and unique experience in the world as they came face to face to a notorious vampire who targets children in their village.
A well written book with good storyline. Loved the characters even though I hated all the husbands in this book lol. It's pretty interesting it may be like other book's concepts but different in its own way

Review: Magic Bites is a good starter for a series. Good plot, a bit confusing at first probably because there's a lot of characters that was introduce but a good world building. A post apocalyptic where technology and magic is everywhere. Kate Daniel, our badass mc investigate the murder of her mentor and then she discovered that not only human were killed but also wolves and vampires. This series is promising. Looking forward to the next book!

Thoughts:
Wow! Devoured this book and just loved it. I've really enjoyed this series...and the final installment has been announced. Brain on auto...I was thinking this was the last, and I was thinking this doesn't seem to be wrapping it up. Happy to have one more, but I'm also feeling a bit impatient to find out exactly WHAT happens.
I don't want to post spoilers, so...more bad (yep, worst ones yet) come to the reservation. Lizzie and Belle are back and there personal situations are working out well. After much waffling about, Lizzie and Aidan finally have their talk, and the wellspring wants a special "introduction". On the scary side are vampires who do magic, a giant basilisk and Aidan's mama. There is a vote by the pack, and lots of cake (just wish I could sample some of those!).
Overall, a great book and a series I like to visit very much.

Eek! And help!
In all previous rounds, we've had the weekly shelf call, labeled Shelf 1, Shelf 2 and so on. This round, the weekly "shelf" is actually a category, and we find a book on one of 5 listed shelves.
So, my conundrum is how we're listing this info...which is taxing my tired brain.
Can we list them like this?
Selection Post/Completion Post
Shelf 1 or Category 1 (capital letter indicates this is the called Bingo square for week 1, 2, etc., and either Shelf or Category is fine here).
How it fits/fits (something like that) (1) Urban Fantasy, etc (list which of the 5 shelves for book selection that the book was on).
I hope my muddled explanation isn't too muddled...
I would appreciate this so much, and think the ninja-checkers would appreciate it, too.

Free Space: SOS Bookshelves

Review: Kate has the worst dad ever and a crazy family too but she definitely knows how to deal with him and the crazy mess her puts her through. I really like her and Curran together. They make such a great pair with all the other characters as well as Julie the adopted child. This war has yet to start but I think all is going to go well and I can just imagine how beautiful Kates' dress looks. So enjoyed this series. I hate for it to end.

Done.
But you need to add the SOS Bookshelves to the Free Space Review, just like you had it on the selection post.
The Review itself is always more important than the selection post, so it needs all the info. :)

In my mind it's always Shelf, but this round I'll just add both to keep it clear (for me!)
And Carmen, that is such a fave series for me! The post-days series (ugh...can't remember the name at the moment!), where we see Kate and Curran as a family in a new place with new adventures (and monsters, lots of monsters!) is great, too!
