Title/Author: Hour of Darkness by Lara Adrian
Series: Hunter Legacy #2
Date Read: 10/28/2023
Shelf: Free Space
How it fits: found on SOS Paranormal Romance bookshelf
Pages: 234
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Review: This is the second book in the hunter legacy spinoff and follows Cain, one of the Breed males in the Hunter program. He rescues Marina, the niece of a Russian crime lord who has an assassin trying to eliminate her. Cain takes her to the safest place he knows, his old darkhaven. He has been estranged from his other Breed brothers since he had a falling out with half brother Knox, that followed the death of Knox’s potential mate. The good: like being back in the Breed universe and the experience of other Breed group perspective outside of the Order. The not so good: I hate all the insta love then denial games. It seems to be a popular theme and all the self sacrifice and resistance to couple when you know they are going to probably end up together in the end... And I thought Marina's character was kind of naive and not a fan of weak heroines. Listened to in audio and the male narrator's female voices weren't perfect but okay enough to continue. Happy I rediscovered a this spinoff that fell off my radar so I plan to finish this smaller series.

I’m finding that GRs likes to list books as unmarked when I view the lists, but if I click on books editions… I have one marked read or want to read, but list shows it as a Green box that wants you to add it all over again.

Sometimes does that to me too, Lis, though the all editions page is usually correct. With say a read library book & an unread kindle etc.

At least its not just me... :) I just confuse myself when looking at series of authors that I consistently read, and thinking either "I know I've read that" or "how could I have missed that release?" then dig and see that I did already consume that one...

That's exactly what I'm thinking as well, till I check that all editions page then go 'duh.

Review:
This was cute. I think I had higher expectations given that the rating is so high, so it didn't really reach what I thought it would in my head. I liked the premise, and the characters. The ending was very well done! I haven't read much T. Kingfisher, but I have, I've liked. So I'll probably continue to look for more by them.

Date Read: 11/3/2023
Shelf: #2 Nat'l Book Month
How it fits: Found on SOS UF list and shelved 43 times for 'urban-fantasy'

Review: Back at the reservation and solving two parallel mysteries. One that involves a killer that is mutilating and killing older women and the other is picking off members of Deputy Ranger Aiden O'Conner's werewolf pack, and family. Lizzie is also trying to get over her recent break up with he who will not be named in caution that someone may not be this far into the series, but her heart is really hurting. The good: Like being back on the reservation and amongst the wild magic that keeps transforming with each story. Lizzie and Belle are getting stronger and more bad a$$ with each book and the wild magic that is changing them. Like the other support characters in Lizzie's world. The not so good: This book was very similar in some aspects to a previous book in the series to the point I thought I already read it in the beginning. With this edition kind of had the feeling that Lizzie is like a child that fumbles into trouble and Belle and Monty are the parents that have to pick her up and see that she is fed and rested. This is kind of a I love to hate it series... Not sure why, but I have read almost all of KA's books and this one just seems like more of the same at times. Listened to in audio, always has good narration. Continuing on with the series.

Title/Author: Wraith's Revenge by Keri Arthur
Series: Lizzie Grace #10

Review: The one where Lizzie and Belle leave the reservation... Lizzie can no longer avoid the inevitable and heads back home to settle her late husband's estate and for the trial. She is not looking forward to seeing her family, especially her father. Lots of bad blood, hurt feelings, and damaged done since Lizzie and Belle went into hiding. Belle is happy to be home and spend time with her family. But the sorcerer is back that killed Lizzie's sister, in the form of a Wraith. Lizzie and allies race against time to banish the Wraith before he kills everyone of Lizzie's family members in revenge. The good: I think leaving the reservation actually gave this series new life. Enjoyed the support Lizzie received back home, and the family visits. The not so good: Another spirit on a killing spree. Seems like there cannot be any other baddie but the soul stealing, demon tangled evil creatures. Zombie werewolves were the only thing with a newer spin. This book pulled me back in, and I am looking forward to the next one in this series then I am caught up. Listened in audio, always good.

I'm almost done with Archangel's Prophecy I should have it done tomorrow, and I'm only barely into Savage Bonds.

Book: Payback in Death by J.D. Robb
Pages: 364
Date Read: 4 Nov
Rating: 3.5 stars. 57 books in, 3 years (according to the series) and the character development has been great. The mystery was good with more like a procedural and figuring out the why.
How it Fits: Tagged Sci-fi romance. In this futuristic world, I'd definitely prefer Roarke ;P

Review:
I love that this series is so easy to get back in to. I remember enough from the previous books, and there's always little reminders as you read. I am a huge lover of this series and of Raphael. This one was a different read for me, I felt like it was a little slow until we hit the climax, but the resolution wasn't as satisfying as I wanted. While there's usually a crime to solve when Elena is involved, I felt like that detracted a little from everything else going on with the Cascade and prophecy. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I'm excited to continue.

Review: This is a very long series and this includes the last Willan sister to find an immortal, Alexandra. Her sister Danielle has been introducing her to several rouge hunters, but once they can read her mind, their gone. Poor Alex is starting to get a complex. But she really has no time for a guy, because she is launching her second restaurant and everything seems to go wrong including losing her chef. So she is introduced to Cale Valens, a very old immortal hunter from Europe, and told that he is her replacement chef. The good: Happy to see all the sisters found life mates. The not so good: The initial premise of Cale, "I haven't eaten for centuries", as a top chef, flops so badly that it really wasn't that funny. Alex is so oblivious and naïve, it frustrates me when female leads are weak and clueless. This series is hit or miss for me, some are good books, others follow a similar pattern and lack new content twists. Listened in audio, always a good narration.

Review:
I was a in a little bit of a slump reading this at first, however, once I got into it it was really really good! I honestly couldn't put it down and I kept thinking about it. There are some moments where Oleander isn't consistent in her thinking or her actions. She kind of waffles or goes back and forth with things. As the plot progresses I'm very excited to see where the action goes and the tension with her bonds. I can't decide which of the bonds are my favorite, but so far I think Gabe. I'm very curious about Nox and his whole situation as well.

This one sounds good... added it to my TBR list, oh and its an entire series available on Scribd... Lets just add all 6 books to the ole TBR pile. I am questioning if there are enough years in my lifetime to read everything I have put on that list. If GR goes down, I am doomed. :)
