✅A Dutiful Boy - Was available through Spotify Subscription for good so wanted to read it before it disappeared or I cancelled my subscription. Really glad I did. Good heart warming story about a boy/man and his family finding their place amidst all the contradiction of religion, culture, modern life, and love.
Bonus work ahead:
19) A book connected in some way to any of the flavors of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream
⋆⋆⋆✅Ms Ice Sandwich
Took me a minute to think about it and the adorableness of this book has sat with me and I love it the more I think about it. The little kids love of weird and strange things and learning to accept their love of weird and strange things. Life is more colorful and fun when we let in the weird. It also was interesting how other people can assume our compliments are insults when they are judging others we are admiring. Wouldn't it be lovely if all farts smelled of strawberries? Also the parents surviving single parenthood and turning out these amazing kids. This is what I got from it and I love it.
25) A book involving a crime other than a murder
✅The Impossible Fortress
A fun nostalgia. I was looking for a quick easy weekend read and it truly hit that on the head. Perfect for a teenage gamer that loves a retro flare or a Gen Xer that wants to go back in time. Don't expect it to be more than it is and you will really enjoy it.
11) A book with an X connection
✅There's No Such Thing as an Easy Job
Letting it simmer first.
49) A book with a senior citizen character
✅The Talented Ribkins
A good story about a lot of things but felt like it was mainly about family. Seeing them, being there for them, loving them. But it was also about more and man you gotta love Johnny. Such a good, good man.
41)A book with a chilling atmosphere
✅Maeve Fly

How I Rank Books:
--My ranking is based on the idea that I have enjoyed many books that were ranked 3.0-4.0 on Good Reads. And those books must have received a number of ratings at the 3.0 mark to end up where they were on the ratings. So 3 to me feels like receiving a C on your paper in school It was considered an average rating but hopefully the majority of your class received an A or B on the assignment. So as a result this is how I will try and decide on a ranking:
⭐️: Whomever agreed to publish this book should be fired
⭐️⭐️: Terrible in my opinion, but others might like it. But if they ask me about it I'll be honest.
⭐️⭐️⭐️: I am glad I finished it. It was fine for the genre it is in.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: I enjoyed it. It did what it was supposed to do. I will recommend to a friend as a good solid book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: Love. Will happily recommend to my others. Doesn't need to be life changing just has to excel at making me feel all the things that that a book in that genre is supposed to make me feel. If the e-book goes on sale I will buy it if I don't already own it.
Plans are made so that later on I can laugh at them. I love to plan. But I also love ignoring my plans. So I will plan but that's more to reassure myself that I will have something I am excited to read in each slot.
I do tend to go through Focuses. Sometimes I will focus on books that have been on my TBR for a long time. Other times I want to go through the backlist for my in person book club before I joined them. Sometimes I want to try and read all of a certain genre/author of book that is on my TBR list, etc. So when my focus changes my plans will obviously move with it. As I decide my focus I will add that as a category to count how many I accomplish for the year. So the stats listed below are simply ones where I want to be aware and either are an attempt to accomplish something or keep my reading a little more well rounded.
