I'm going to read A Slow Fire Burning as the Other Book With The Similar Plot.

Courtney Daniel | 5 comments Think I’ll go with The Alice Network and The Nightengale - both about women spies in WW2

Heather (redbayheather) | 52 comments The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
and The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

message 54: by Orlaith (new)

Orlaith | 8 comments Book 7/52 is Outline by Rachel Cusk - a short novel composed of 12 conversations that the narrator meets while she teaches a writing class in Athens. Similar in plot to its sequels Transit and Kudos - is this cheating? I trust you’ll be lenient with me.

Really enjoyable, this one! Flew through it in a little over a day, reads more like a short story collection as opposed to a novel - will definitely be reading the whole trilogy (hopefully this year!)

Amanda Steinmetz | 13 comments Question: I've been reading The Secret, Book & Scone society books which all have the same theme (mysterious death, the society solves it, they share secrets, etc). Would you count this series as plot similar to another book (and then the other book)?

Moonkiszt (moonkisztgmailcom) | 62 comments For this prompt, I read The Last Green Valley The Last Green Valley by Mark T. Sullivan by Mark T. Sullivan .

It is about forced migration in WWII, with the family ultimately settling in the US.

For prompt #23 - a book with similar plot I'll be reading about forced migration in Afghanistan - The Naked Don't Fear the Water An Underground Journey with Afghan Refugees by Matthieu Aikins The Naked Don't Fear the Water: An Underground Journey with Afghan Refugees by Matthieu Aikins Matthieu Aikins

Upward and onward!

Books in a series are often similar to each other, so yes, I think it works.

Rachel Foxton (fivetwofoxton) | 99 comments I read Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney, which was inspired by, and had similarities to, Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None.

message 59: by Carolina (new)

Carolina (calaqua) | 2 comments I'm going to do Beauty by Robin McKinley and A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer both a retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

message 60: by JLC (new)

JLC | 26 comments I'm reading Becoming by Michelle Obama for the Black History Month mini-challenge, then thought I could use it for this main prompt paired with Barack Obama's autobiography - but then I saw someone suggesting Demon Copperhead/David Copperfield and now I'm torn!!

message 61: by Anna (new)

Anna Moore (annamo_85) | 116 comments I read Olivia Twist by Lorie Langdon

message 62: by Nance (new)

Nance H | 5 comments I read “The City of Stardust” by Georgia Summers (debut novel for the author) for this and I plan to read “The Starless Sea” by Erin Morgenstern as the other book :)

message 63: by Haley (new)

Haley | 202 comments Beauty and the Vampire by Zoey Hunter
4/5
I liked that it was a short read but wished ending had been a little slower. However, there was a sequel to come out in 2018. Goodreads has it as Blood Moon. I've checked Amazon and only Beauty and the Vampire comes up under Zoey Hunter. Can't find the sequel anywhere. At least the ending was abrupt and not a cliffhanger. I'll take that any day.

message 64: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (booklover70) | 105 comments “The Ladies of Missalonghi” by Colleen McCullough is a really sweet novella that is similar to “The Blue Castle” by L M Montgomery. The only weird part is the end.

message 66: by Zoë (new)

Zoë (escapinginpaper) | 59 comments I chose Authority by Jeff VanderMeer for this one, and I'm either planning on finishing the Southern Reach Trilogy to count for prompt #23, or reading another VanderMeer book. Most of his books follow similar themes, I think.

message 67: by Kristi (new)

Kristi C. | 116 comments I read In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren for this prompt and am starting The Christmas Wish by Lindsey Kelk for the prompt with a similar plot.

My Girl? Who is the author. I can't find anything on Libby with that title. Thank you!

message 70: by Hannah (new)

Julia (_mj_howard) | 91 comments Iron Flame (The Empyrean, #2) by Rebecca Yarros

I really liked this series, it didn't take me long to pick this up after reading the first novel, which obviously is the similar book.

message 73: by Jeni (new)

Jeni Huber | 78 comments I read Has Anyone Seen Charlotte Salter? by Nicci French and I Know You Know by Gilly Macmillan. Both were about murders, dodgy police work, and true crime blogs. It wasn't until after I read Charlotte Salter that I decided they were similar enough to count for these 2 prompts.

message 74: by JLC (new)

JLC | 26 comments So I settled on David Copperfield/Demon Copperhead, but another good pairing would have been Roger Daltrey's and Pete Townshend's autobiographies - I'm reading them anyway (and trying to find prompts to fit them into!) It's fascinating reading different points of view on the same events, what they choose to make important.

message 75: by JLC (new)

JLC | 26 comments Another good suggestion would be The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and James - can you tell that I'm intrigued by this prompt???

message 76: by Kerri (new)

message 82: by Phil (new)

Phil | 99 comments I read Seven Sisters by Katherine Kovacic The plot of the book revolves around 7 women killing men who murdered someone close to the other women in the group. The men got off lightly or scot-free and retribution was on their minds. As other women in the group carried out the deed, those closest to the women's perpetrator had alibis. (Read May 16th; 4*)
A similar plot of killing on behalf of others was featured in Death Rocks: A DCI Ryan Mystery by LJ Ross that I read on May 11th

message 83: by Kellene (new)

Kellene I'm jumping over to the paranormal world with my choice for similar plots. I am currently reading Seeking Spirits: The Lost Cases of The Atlantic Paranormal Society by Jason Hawes, in which he and Grant Wilson recount some of their early investigations. My other similar book will be A Life with Ghosts: True, Terrifying, and Insightful Tales from My Favorite Haunts by Steve Gonsalves, in which he also recounts some of his paranormal investigations. Since both authors are long time lead investigators of TAPS, it will be interesting to see if any of the stories overlap.

message 89: by Laura Z (new)

Laura Z | 46 comments Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren: Told in alternating timelines between "Then" and "Now", teenage Elliot and Macy grow from friends to much more—spending weekends and lazy summers together in a house outside of San Francisco devouring books, sharing favorite words, and talking through their growing pains and triumphs. As adults, they have become strangers to one another until their chance reunion. Although their memories are obscured by the agony of what happened that night so many years ago, Elliot will come to understand the truth behind Macy’s decade-long silence, and will have to overcome the past and himself to revive her faith in the possibility of an all-consuming love.

Every Summer After by Carley Fortune: They say you can never go home again, and for Persephone Fraser, ever since she made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, that has felt too true. Instead of glittering summers on the lakeshore of her childhood, she spends them in a stylish apartment in the city, going out with friends, and keeping everyone a safe distance from her heart. Until she receives the call that sends her racing back to Barry’s Bay and into the orbit of Sam Florek—the man she never thought she’d have to live without. For six summers, through hazy afternoons on the water and warm summer nights working in his family’s restaurant and curling up together with books—medical textbooks for him and work-in-progress horror short stories for her—Percy and Sam had been inseparable. Eventually that friendship turned into something breathtakingly more, before it fell spectacularly apart.

message 96: by Paula (new)

Paula | 29 comments I have just not been in the mood for Pride and Prejudice. So I am waffling between two retellings of Beauty and the Beast: The Wren in the Holly Library and One Cursed Rose OR two retellings of Persuasion: Much Ado about Nada and Recipe for Persuasion OR two retellings of Twelfth Night: Twelfth Knight and Monstrous Regiment
