7 -- At Least Four Different POV
I am also going to read On the Rooftop, mentioned earlier.I recommend Sea of Tranquility, particularly for folks who enjoyed Emily St. John Mandel's The Glass Hotel. The audiobook has four different narrators, one for each of the four POV characters.
I read Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez -- it took me several tries (I started in December but restarted in January!) to get through the first section, but after that I found it fascinating, if slow at times. Sort of horror, sort of literary... multiple POVs
I am accidentally reading this prompt. The Family Remains by Lisa Jewel works for this. I read The Family Upstairs for over 40 chapters and then had to read the second book.
I read The Only Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11 by Garrett M. Graff. I gave it three stars.
I read The Echo of Old Books for this one. It's a little convoluted with too many plot threads, but an enjoyable read nonetheless.
For prompt 7: 4 different POV, I read "The Lincoln Highway" by Amor Towles. I thought it would be difficult to keep them straight, but it was surprisingly easy.
Janet wrote: "I read The Echo of Old Books for this one. It's a little convoluted with too many plot threads, but an enjoyable read nonetheless." I also read this book but did not use for this POV prompt. I enjoyed it. I used it for prompt 40, "a holiday you don't celebrate" since they have a Hanukkah celebration.
I ended up reading Tales of the Celestial Kingdom for this prompt. I was originally going to use it for 'published in 2024', but I have a number of others that will fit that and not as many for this one. The book was really good (as expected), I was so excited to revisit the world of Daughter of the Moon Goddess and this definitely delivered.
For this prompt, I read The Cold Millions
by Jess Walter.A great read about IWW days in Spokane, WA, and making it through the battles of worker's rights - giving us children labor laws, 8 hour days, weekends, paid holidays, and safe working environments.
Then She Was Gone by Lisa JewellI've just finished this and it was a nice surprise that it works well for this prompt.
*potential spoilers below*
POVs counted were Laurel, Ellie, Noelle, and Floyd
It also works for these other prompts:
3. more than 40 chapters
14. a grieving character
24. a cover without people on it
Just finished reading Rogue One. A Star Wars Story. This is the novelization of the movie. Loved the book! It's set at the beginning of the conflict between Empire and Rebel Alliance and tells the story of Jyn Erso's attempt to steal the Death Star's schematics indicating a flaw in the weapon of mass destruction which may render it useless and bring the Empire's atrocities to an end. The book has a constant POV switch, which isn't annoying at all. On the contrary, it makes you get to know the characters and live the war through them: from Erso's own perspective, Cassian Andor's, Darth Vader's, Tarkin's, Bodhi's, Krennic's, Baze's, Chirrut's, Mothma's, and other characters. The Death Star is used twice in the book and in both scenes, the dying moments of its victims were told from their perspectives, short passages of sometimes anonymous characters. Very gripping story, moved me to tears at some passages.
I just finished Written in Red by Anne Bishop, and I LOVED this book! Lots of humor, and suspense, and the villain gets it in the end.It MIGHT be considered to feature indigenous culture, because the Others in the book (shifters, elementals, etc.) were referred to as terra indigene (earth natives).
I read Arch-Conspirator by Veronica Roth, an intriguing retelling of Antigone. You get at least one POV from almost every character involved, very interesting I thought.
I continued reading the series and read Sun Warrior (the second in the series). The first book in the series, Moon Chosen, would also count.
“LeftBehind: The Kids. The Vanishings#1” by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye is a great first book in the series. It is from 4 different kids point- of- views.
Anitra wrote: "A book I just finished, Vicious by VE Schwab, would fit this. But I started the challenge to push me into reading a wider variety, so I am going to try Poisonwood Bible."I was thinking about Vengence for this one! :)
I read The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver which has 5 distinct POV. Amazing heartbreaking novel
