The Rochdale Poltergeist: A True Story by Jenny Ashford - 4 stars.

Great list of books, Marie, and your reviews bring them alive to us. Like you, the rain phenomenon is new to me, in the haunted category. What an awful thing to experience.

I liked the honesty & concluding line of your King book review. Of course, reading your thoughts on books you disliked is always interesting but with King, you had plenty for comparison, as it seemed many have an opinion on it.

It's interesting that you read both the first & second installment of Floor Four at the same time. I've not heard of a reader doing that but it makes such sense, if you've read the first previously. Why is it abandoned asylums seem the scariest places for haunting? I suppose it's the insanity aspect, combined with all we bring to the genre.

As always, i like reading your reviews and comments, Marie. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for series and how you eagerly await more."

Thanks so much, Deb! :)

Well with the King book I thought it best to give out an opinion in a soft manner tone to readers instead of what I was seeing everywhere else on Goodreads. As far as the concluding line to my review I did that because I knew if I didn't then I would be having readers tear into my review with their own opinions and I was thinking more along the lines of bad opinions would be dished out so to keep it civil then I decided to add that statement which seemed to work as I seemed to have received positive comments.

As far as reading two books at once with Floor Four - I had read the first book years ago and memory of the story was shaky so to keep it fresh and the book being kind of short I just decided to read it again and read the second book as well. Actually the second book was on the heels of the first book.

I think abandoned asylums are scary because of what went on within the walls and even though books are written about them in fiction the scary effect is still there in our minds as sometimes even the true paranormal touches on the asylums as the people that were in there went through a lot of emotions and all those pent up emotions are left like a residue within those walls. That is why some of those places are haunted. I watch a lot of the true paranormal shows.

I love sharing my thoughts and reviews with you all over here. :)

I have a friend who is crazy about Stephen King. She also loved Holly---Holly

She told me to read the trilogy. So I need to start with Mr. Mercedes. Hope to fit it in next year for our challenge here.

It's a relief to know i'm not alone in feeling a need for a refresher for a book series. The difference is that you, Marie, actually reread the first, whereas i confound my reading by not doing so. Well thought out, Book Friend!

Clever, Alias. You are a good planner on this front.

I would recommend you reading the trilogy as well. I read Mr. Mercedes plus the second book Finders Keepers. I still need to read End of Watch which is the conclusion of that trilogy. But after the trilogy then there is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
which also has the character Holly. The Outsider is not part of the trilogy though - not directly other than it has the Holly in it.

Marie | 384 comments Something is going on with the inserting of book or book cover with the "add book/author" tab. I had to grab the actual link for The Outsider from my browser.

Some days it seems GoodReads just isn't gelling. Sorry for your issue but i'm impressed you found a go-around, Marie. Thanks.

Sorry. A GoodReads glitch. Hope it clears up soon.
