I remember this story vaguely sometime from my childhood, and I've tried finding it using chatgpt for hours and couldn't find it. I read it around 2008-2012.

I've read it in Israel, so I'm pretty sure it was written in Hebrew, and there may not be an English translation, considering it is probably an obscure book since I'm not managing to find it.

The details are very fuzzy in my head so some might not be accurate.

Book with a dormant area of the brain that is normally locked and unlocked in emergency situations (instead of irl adrenaline) and there are people who can unlock that area of the brain and are teens and are taken to a facility to experiment on them and unlock their potential. the protagonist is struck by a sudden illness and after time in the hospital he agrees to transfer under the care of a special experimental institute that are investigating his condition. the protagonist wakes up in a room in the facility which also has other people there and they are not allowed to leave. they are taught to control that power and some experiements are done on them I think.

I think it's science fiction for teens, but I'm just guessing here.
