This may be my favorite! The artwork is adorable cute perfect. Will reread it a few more times before sending it back to library.I am now thinking I might need to buy myself the full set as my 70th birthday present to myself. Seems appropriate, age-wise.
🤣
And you are right, the artwork is adorable. I have really enjoyed watching the evolution of Jim and the others through the artwork. Everything is more intricate than the first. And the first was awesome!
Exactly. This wife/husband team of author/illustrator have created something so marvelous. We now need to explore the graphic novels and other formats Jim Panzee is appearing in, though not sure how many my libraries will have. Might have to spend some time in Book of Wonder downtown to see what there are.
Next time you need a good laugh or a pick-me-up, read aloud The Wonky Donkey.Or, just watch this video of a Scottish Grandma reading it to her tiny clueless grandson.

I decided I need this so now have it on hand at a tap of my fingers in ebook.
Last week when I was asked to share a "staff and volunteer pick" at the library. I picked Grumpy Monkey Don't Be Scared: Includes Scary Stickers! My librarian loved the pick :)I will definitely check out The Wonky Donkey.
I recommended the series to a client with a toddler and a newborn. I'll have to check with another family member or two to find out if they bought them. If not, I may surprise gift them!Of course the librarian loved the pick -as she should!
By the way, I should mention to you that the department store Kohl's has a partnership ongoing with Sandra Boynton for 4 of her plushies and their accompanying Board Book - at just under $10 each. Here's a link:https://www.facebook.com/sandraboynto...
It's Cow, Elephant (wearing a hat), Dinosaur and Bear - she did these for the Kohl's Cares. Super high quality soft plushies. A friend ordered all 4 online for my 70 birthday - quite a surprise gift! But of course, 70 is just the right age.
Of course, I sent Tessa the elephant in time to comfort her after her surgery.

@Lyn - I was thinking that I want to read again Grumpy Monkey Don't Be Scared: Includes Scary Stickers around Halloween, thinking we should do a reread. Then my mind shifted to holiday children's book reads - I have collected some both childhood favorites and in my travels - I have a Cajun Night Before Christmas with alligators not reindeer. That led me to remember a winter children's book I purchased on an impulse one day and which I lauded on FB to friends, some of whom went out and bought it and loved it too. It's Cold Snap by Eileen Spinelli. I read it every year.
I also read every year How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and my Mary Engelbright illustrated The Night Before Christmas. I have many many more. One of my sisters often gives me the best children's book - such as Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type.
I though maybe we could share with each other some of these seasonal favorites that we gravitate to reading or at least thinking about. Just perhaps one each in December during December Flurries. Since there's no prizes for Flurries, no page limits and they count. BnB would enjoy that too, I think.
Since we clearly both are still young at heart ... it would be fun.
That does sound fun! This will have me hanging out in the children's section of my library!I have read Cold Snap. I liked it. There are so many amazing children's books out there. Have you seen The Most Boring Book Ever by Brandon Sanderson (did I mention it in this thread?) You would like it I think.

Yes! You suggested it and I read it. It is currently the shortest book I have read in 2025, LOL. Very wonderful book.
I say we each pick at least one but can suggest 2 or 3, starting around Thanksgiving.
Reminder about our plan to read some seasonal favorites over the holidays at end of year. I vote for one of my family faves: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! but also will find something more exotic - Babar maybe from the books I have pickedup in my travels. At NY ComicCon, there was a stack of The Most Boring Book Ever for sale on publisher table. When I went back on Sunday when marked down to 50%, they were sold out.
None of the NYC public libraries have in ebook Grumpy Monkey Don't Be Scared: Includes Scary Stickers. *pout*. I actually will be in Santa Fe at Halloween. Will just do a YouTube reading of it.
GOOD NEWS! A new one comes out in March 2026 - Grumpy Monkey Father's Day Fuss: Includes Fun Stickers!!
