Theresa | 15518 comments A new Grumpy Monkey out in a couple weeks!

Grumpy Monkey School Stinks!: A Graphic Novel

message 103: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15518 comments Also, one of our libraries finally got copies of Grumpy Monkey Mom for a Day. My hold is aout 2 weeks.

message 104: by Lyn (new)

Lyn (lynm) | 1122 comments I think my hold is in at the library. I'll pick it up today if it is :)

Lyn (lynm) | 1122 comments Have you read any of the graphic novels yet? Seems like they could be fun.

No. This School Stinks one will be first. We need to try it!

Theresa | 15518 comments Well my 2 week hold for Mom came in! 2 weeks became 20 hours!

Lyn (lynm) | 1122 comments I picked up Mom yesterday. I will read it (multiple times) this weekend. It looks like fun!

Theresa | 15518 comments This may be my favorite! The artwork is adorable cute perfect. Will reread it a few more times before sending it back to library.

I am now thinking I might need to buy myself the full set as my 70th birthday present to myself. Seems appropriate, age-wise.

🤣

message 110: by Lyn (new)

Lyn (lynm) | 1122 comments Totally age appropriate!

message 111: by Lyn (new)

Lyn (lynm) | 1122 comments And you are right, the artwork is adorable. I have really enjoyed watching the evolution of Jim and the others through the artwork. Everything is more intricate than the first. And the first was awesome!

message 112: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15518 comments Exactly. This wife/husband team of author/illustrator have created something so marvelous. We now need to explore the graphic novels and other formats Jim Panzee is appearing in, though not sure how many my libraries will have. Might have to spend some time in Book of Wonder downtown to see what there are.

Lyn (lynm) | 1122 comments Book of Wonder...oh I want to go there. Just the name sounds magical.

Theresa | 15518 comments Here is a link: https://booksofwonder.com/

It is THE premier children's bookstore in NYC.

message 115: by Lyn (new)

Lyn (lynm) | 1122 comments Definitely want to go there! I could spend days (and lots of dollars) there :)

Theresa | 15518 comments Next time you need a good laugh or a pick-me-up, read aloud The Wonky Donkey.

Or, just watch this video of a Scottish Grandma reading it to her tiny clueless grandson.

I decided I need this so now have it on hand at a tap of my fingers in ebook.

Lyn (lynm) | 1122 comments Last week when I was asked to share a "staff and volunteer pick" at the library. I picked Grumpy Monkey Don't Be Scared: Includes Scary Stickers! My librarian loved the pick :)

I will definitely check out The Wonky Donkey.

message 118: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15518 comments I recommended the series to a client with a toddler and a newborn. I'll have to check with another family member or two to find out if they bought them. If not, I may surprise gift them!

Of course the librarian loved the pick -as she should!

Theresa | 15518 comments By the way, I should mention to you that the department store Kohl's has a partnership ongoing with Sandra Boynton for 4 of her plushies and their accompanying Board Book - at just under $10 each. Here's a link:

https://www.facebook.com/sandraboynto...

It's Cow, Elephant (wearing a hat), Dinosaur and Bear - she did these for the Kohl's Cares. Super high quality soft plushies. A friend ordered all 4 online for my 70 birthday - quite a surprise gift! But of course, 70 is just the right age.

Of course, I sent Tessa the elephant in time to comfort her after her surgery.

I'll tell you a secret - I read the books aloud to them. Of course.
