That's the song I've been singing since the concert. That was their first encore song and as soon as the opening started 20,000 people were on their feet singing and dancing. They closed the show with Personal Jesus.

ROUND 3 INFO
Our round 3 word is VIOLA POMPOSA
For the color bonus, we're looking for RED for the next round.
The round is bonus is looking for Instruments on the cover. See info here.
We have a little over 2 days left in round 2. We're looking good. Hopefully everyone is finding some great books.
I ended up using a non-fiction book because it had 3 letter options when all the fiction books I found only worked for H from the descriptions.

Hi Team! Let me just say, we are kicking ass on the city bonus this round - great job everyone!
As this round is coming to a close, we ask that everyone get their read books entered on the tracking sheet by Friday night. If you have a book that you KNOW you'll finish by Saturday noon EST (giving captains the chance to make any final letter adjustments and get us checked in on time,) leave it on the tracking sheet. Otherwise, please shift any books you won't be finishing this round to the Round 3 tab of the tracking sheet.
there are No Scrubs on this team! ;)

@Mary: Those are 2 of my favorites. There was a club in Buffalo called The Continental that would play I Feel You and everyone would hit the floor - love that one too :)

One more note: because there is the possibility of vuvuzela and ukulele in our future, you may want to set aside any "U" books on the off chance the Wheel Gods care to bless us with those words.:)

"Yes to both.
Deanna wrote: "RachelG. wrote: "Do you think this cover would count for instrument on..."Thanks Deanna. While I have been listening to an audiobook I have been searching for books to read in round 3.

Thanks Deanna. I already have this so going to start soon after I finish my two books for this round.
For Round 3 how many red covers is the maximum for bonus points?ETA: I looked at the link above and it looks like 10 books with instruments on the cover is the max.

Yes, 10 is the max.
Great job this round everyone! With Mary's last book, we'll have read 126 books this round, hit 41 cities for the bonus, and have a bunch of chunky books in the midst - an all-around successful round :)
You guys rock!

(in honor of our concert-going Mary ;) )
one housekeeping note: Joyce, would you please add The Cat Who Saved Books to your wheel shelf?
Finished Dead as a Door Knocker. Marking it now. Works for a few open letters of our last word. My house is much cleaner now.
I am so excited to get reading the books I have for round 3! We have had some nasty rain and a thunderstorm at my house today so a great day to stay inside and read.
Shan ~A~ wrote: "Can the SS be fixed like the last round, so we can see the letters needed as we scroll down?"Should be all set, Shan!
I have been down with the flu a few days so my reading will be down this week. I just want to sleep a lot.
The bird on this cover is holding a horn of some sort:
Do you think this will be okay for instrument on the cover?
It's possible that part of my sleepiness was the snooze fest that the Mick Jagger bio was. Kind of surprising because he's well Mick Jagger. Probably just the author.
RachelG. wrote: "The bird on this cover is holding a horn of some sort:
Do you think this will be okay for instrument on the cover?"Yes, I would say the horn works.
Deanna wrote: "RachelG. wrote: "The bird on this cover is holding a horn of some sort:

Thanks, Deanna. I was able to pick it up at the library today.
So it looks like we are a Tier 1 team and so for round 3 we only get 5 red cover bonus points and 10 instrument on the cover bonus points, correct?

Just an FYI... if someone is looking for a book for later in the game that works for harder letters I just read 2 of them. Here are some of the characters that start with harder letters (but there are characters that start with almost every letter). I would also like to point out that Iron Flame just came out and was sold out everywhere around here (I barely got a copy). I tried several stores before getting one the day it came out. Violet

Hopefully I can ramp up my reading this week and make up for last week. I got a lot of audio book time while cleaning my house on Saturday. Yesterday I took a blind friend of mine out to lunch and run some errands. So we had music on instead of an audio book.
It looks like we are more then set with red covers. So I might skip All the Pretty Girls for now. I'm not feeling a serial killer theme. Since there's 3 O's per spell out-I'll look for books with those.
Status UpdateHey team! A little over 3 days left in Round 3. We have all of the red covers. We've completed 7 books with instruments on the cover and have 2 more unfinished books on the spreadsheet, so that leaves 1 more instrument on the cover up for grabs.
As far as letters, see row 3, columns J-Q for the exact numbers to finish up our remaining partial spellings. We can always add a few letters to a new spelling if we get these finished.
You all are awesome! Happy reading this week!
I should finish A quick bite tonight. Got a little side tracked by a non-fiction book that doesn't work for much but has S & P. Also found an old Elmore Leonard book that works for a lot of letters just from a cursory look thanks to Kindle search feature and the Jackie Brown cast list on IMBD.
Any else notice that Amazon seems to have removed the book search feature? That was very handy for challenge when listening to an audio book.
I'll see if I can find a short book with an instrument on the cover. There has to be a cozy with one.
It's stretch: but Vinyl Resting place has a record on the cover they are used for scratching/scrubbing in rap and hip hop.Never Mind: I found a book that, thanks to someone adding all the characters to it's page here, is a gold mine of letters and has a violin on the cover. I'll read that before Rum Punch.
Mary X wrote: "Any else notice that Amazon seems to have removed the book search feature? That was very handy for challenge when listening to an audio book"Mary, it is not gone. They just moved it. They used to have that little arrow that said "look inside". It took me a minute but now they have a little button underneath that says "Read Sample" instead. You can only search the physical versions but yeah it is still there. Different wording but the same thing.
Round 4 info is out: Word: ukulele
Color: Brown
Round 4 Bonus
It's time to explore the many varied musical forms from around the world.
Find these musical genres in your books! You need to find the exact word (see below and yodelling caveat), and you need to find ten different genres.
Each genre you find in the text will earn an additional 5 bonus points. Only one bonus word per book and a maximum of 10 bonus words.
Genres
[Baroque
Bhangra
Bluegrass
Calypso
Electronica
Fado
Folk
Grunge
K-Pop
Mambo
Mariachi
Merengue
Motown
Noh
Polka
Rautalanka
Reggae
Salsa
Shashmaqam
Ska
Spiritual
Sufi
Tango
Yodeling (or Jodeling) (Note: either English or US ll / l variant acceptable)
Zydeco
Note: you must find the words exactly (so you can't find "electronic" - it has to have the -a ending), but if you find an exact match that isn't talking about the music genre (e.g. "he was a spiritual person" you can still claim it). And yes, we mean you can't use plurals, possessives or verb ending changes (bad luck if you find "he yodels" but no yodelling!)

I now have 4 books set in 3 different cities. I hope to finish 2 of them by the end of this round.
