So many amazing characters living in the books we read, but which character(s) do you think you would actually be friends with, and why?"
This is such an interesting question. My problem is I fall in love with these characters so often, that I am already planning a hypothetical future with them. LOL! *sigh, Augustus Waters* :P
But I have to say I would love to be friends with Eve Dallas from the "In Death" series by J.D. Robb - she is such a kickass person and she is always there no matter what. She is strong willed, passionate about what she does, and committed to the core for people she cares for. These are beautiful qualities to have in a person and it would be lovely to have someone like that around me. Plus, she can save me from trouble every time as a bonus. Hahaha! :P

Ok, this is perhaps our last question before the game begins, so let's go for #2:
Question:
You're having a dinner party with good food, wine, and merriment. To add to the festivities, you can invite 1 or 2 authors with one of their characters each - who would you invite?

Thanks!!

Ok, this is perhaps our last question before the game begins, so let's go for #2:
I have always wanted to meet Patricia Briggs and would love to have dinner with her and her character Mercy Thompson.

I would invite Amanda M. Lee, who also writes under the name Lily Harper Hart, along with her character Hadley Hunter from the Moonstone Bay cozy mystery series.

Hope everyone's off to a good start with their round 1 books :)
Here's the latest pic from our R&B artist game - any guesses? :

She's my favorite new-to-me artist from the playlist :)

"I stopped for a minute to watch one of of my nieces marching around the town square with the fife-and-drum corps which was rehearsing..." p. 168
or "whenever something interesting happens, everyone seems to find out all at once, as if by telepathy or jungle drums." p. 235

Hope everyone's off to a good start with their round 1 books :)

Ugh, I have to finish another book first (for another challenge) and because it was started before this challenge started it doesn't count.

"I stopped for a minute to watch one of of my niece..."
The second one will definitely work.

How to Be a Man:-this book has lots of instruments mentioned but I noted Guitar on page 61.

perfect! you can check the box in column C to indicate there is an instrument in the book. (I updated the ones you listed with quotes.)
And have a great vacation!

Hope you have a wonderful vacation as well.

Her song Golden has been playing in head a lot the past week :)"
That's the song that always comes to mind when I think of her.

Teddie I' so glad you posted that about column C. I definitely hadn't paid attention and was using it wrong. Fixed my mistake.

And have a great vacation"
I wouldn't have guessed that since it says "round" in the column header. I am finding the whole spreadsheet just a bit hard on the eyes. However, I will deal.

Thanks, it was mostly the purple font on purple highlighting. It makes it harder to read.

I've had that happen before. After a few days, I made myself read the next couple of chapters in the book and was able to get back into it.

Quick Status Update
We've completed 4 spellings of didgeridoo so far, and almost have a 5th one.
We have 2 completed green covers, and plenty on the planning sheet to cover the remaining 3 needed.
We have completed all 10 of our instrument in the text round bonus tasks.
Great job everyone! Happy reading this week!

Yeah! Did you enjoy it?

Anyone else reading this?

For what we need:
round bonus: instrument in book - We've achieved maximum points!
cover color: 3 of 5 are read. I'm finishing my green cover today - @Mary & @Shan: will either / both of you be finishing your green cover book by round end?
@Rachel: The best way to answer this is for everyone to check the planning sheet and update with what you know you will finish by the round's end.
We currently have 7 didgeridoo's with at least an eighth if everyone finishes what is on the sheet now.
Captains will be able to move books around if needed, so the main thing for us all to do is get that tracking sheet as accurate as possible for Round 1 at this point.
Thanks Team!

word: SYNTHESIZER
cover color: white
round bonus:
Now you've got a collection of instruments, lets go on a tour!
During Round 2 books set in one of the musical cities on the list below earn an additional 5 bonus points. Only one bonus locale per book and a maximum of 10 bonus locations. Books must be at least 50% in the listed city, and you can only visit each city once!
Location List:
(view spoiler)
Because each city can only be visited once this round, we'll coordinate on this thread who will be able to visit where. I'll set up the next post as a music travel post to keep track.
Re letters: Y & Z will be the tricky letters here
So start looking for books in your TBR that take place in these cities and I'll update this post with any helpful lists found. The Round 2 tab on our planning sheet is ready if you want to start adding books.

Looks like we have 3 people doing the October BOM so far. If anyone else is interested reading and answering at least 3 sets of questions garners 20 points for the team. (Book will hit R2 letters as well.)
October BOM:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I'm not seeing the November BOM threads posted yet but it looks like the books will be:
