Shari, are you sure this book qualifies for a secret or unknown heritage?
I thought what this prompt was searching for was someone who doesn't know who their ancestors are or there is a secret about them, but now you made me doubt.
Sixters, what do you understand this prompt is about? Any secret will do or only those related to ancestry?

Carmen | 8125 comments Hi Sixters!

🔹Welcome Gwen! 🤗

🔹Cordelia, please, don't forget to post your tracking message. Everybody else's books are already on the spreadsheet, only yours are missing.

🔹I've updated the list of prompts and assignments, we've potentially fulfilled all the doubles and triples, except for "Poly relations/characteres" when we are in need of 1 book. (message #32)

🔹If I made any mistake checking the books, please let me know.

🔹This evening I'll officially announce our team name: Pointer Sixters

🔹I'm thinking out loud: maybe those of you who have less books in your planning could choose a book under 200 pages to fulfill some single prompts...😶‍🌫️

Thanks, have a nice day!

Cordelia, reading the synopsis of "House of Earth and Blood" I think this book is mainly about the loss of a best friend and its aftermath, so I asked at the central if we can count the loss of a best friend as the loss of a family member, if the answer is no, we'll have to make some readjustments in the assigments 🤔

Sorry, you are correct. I stopped at the word secret and didn't include the heritage part of it. I've deleted this book, I already have 6 books on the spreadsheet and may not be able to get them all read any way. Thanks!

message 73: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments Carmen and Gwen,

We aren't supposed to add Yes in the completed column of the Tracking tab until all parts of a multi-part prompt are read. That is, we don't get the 75 points per book for the Doubles or the 100 points per book for Triples until all parts of that prompt are Completed.

I removed my Yes notations for two parts of the historical family Triple, but didn't mess with the other folks' yes marks. Once someone reads the third historical family book, all three can be marked, and then we'll get the 300 points we've earned.

I didn't mess with other folks' Yes marks.

Thanks for the input TerryJane.
I was adding yes taking into account that if at the end of the readathon we don't fulfill any of the triples/doubles we're aiming for we have to move the books around to capitalize our reads as much as possible.

Shari, please, don't forget to change the status of the book(s) you're currently reading on the spreadsheet (planning) and include the title on the prompt cell under your name (tracking). Don't forget also to fill the columns N / O, so the grand totals are the same. Now we have a dicrepancy of 134 pages (suposedly, a book you're reading?)

Same here in north Georgia, USA. Perfect day for reading! ☔

Cordelia, I tried to look at your profile, but your privacy is set to where only GR friends can see your profile or message you. Settings were supposed to be adjusted before sign-up in order to participate. Follow this link to learn how to change your privacy settings on Goodreads.

For anyone interested, this requirement came about after the last team readathon, when some team members didn't show up, and team leaders were unable to reach out to the no-shows via direct message. I sent a friend request to my team's no-show before that readathon started so that I could try to help her find us, but she didn't accept until a month after the event ended. 😕

Have a wonderful, drizzly day between the covers! 🌧️😊

I'm not sure why since my settings are set to anyone can message me. I just double checked and that's still the case.

All good! I was curious myself since I hadn't seen that combination before either and obviously my page doesn't show as private to me. So it was interesting to see how that worked.

I finished HOEAB this morning as planned. I have plans this afternoon but I'm debating picking up a current read or starting a new book.

We have a difference of 220 pages and 9.45 hours between the totals (columns M & Q)
Gwen and Shari, please, check your progress in both sections.

How does column N get populated? It shows 224 for me, which is the number of pages I read on the first day of the read-a-thon, that's not how many pages were in the book I finished on day 2 (Yours Cheerfully), the book has 304 total pages.

Also on day 1 I read a book that is not on my reading list, I was told in the last read-a-thon that I can still count those pages even if it's not a book on my list. I read it because I thought the read-a-thon started on Saturday and it started on Friday. Oops!

message 96: by Gwen (new)

Gwen NOW ON STORYGRAPH | 150 comments I know that the number in column N is not added until the book is marked as complete (which it cannot be until all of the prompts are completed for doubles/triples), so that might be contributing to the issue.

Shari, there is a section at the bottom of the tracking tab for Non-Prompt book, DNF, or <100 pages.

The only issue that I can think of with my books is that I only read 100 pages of Patchwork as I had started it prior to the challenge

message 97: by Carmen (last edited Sep 18, 2023 03:20PM) (new)

Carmen | 8125 comments Hola:

Shari wrote: "How does column N get populated? It shows 224 for me, which is the number of pages I read on the first day of the read-a-thon, that's not how many pages were in the book I finished on day 2 (Yours Cheerfully), the book has 304 total pages"

Each team member (or the coleaders if the tracking post include all the data needed) should fill their daily progress both at the top of the sheet on their own column, and on the columns N/Q for each one of their books, regardless of whether the book is finished or not.

Maybe I misanderstood your tracking post for day 1, because you had only 1 book in progress and I put the number of pages to that book. That's why it's so important to add all the books we are reading on the tracking sheet, and put the pages/hours we dedicate to each book daily to avoid possible mistakes.
I changed the pages on column N for "Yours Cheerfully" to 304, but you need to add the book(s) you already finished or have in progress.

Shari wrote: "Also on day 1 I read a book that is not on my reading list, I was told in the last read-a-thon that I can still count those pages even if it's not a book on my list. I read it because I thought the read-a-thon started on Saturday and it started on Friday. Oops!"

You have to add the title in the section for that purpose on the tracking sheet and the corresponding pages/hours .

Gwen wrote: "I know that the number in column N is not added until the book is marked as complete (which it cannot be until all of the prompts are completed for doubles/triples), so that might be contributing to the issue.

At TerryJane's suggestion we are already doing it like this, so this is not an issue.

Gwen wrote: "The only issue that I can think of with my books is that I only read 100 pages of Patchwork as I had started it prior to the challenge"

On column C, you registered 843 pages and 9.45 hours while on columns N/Q you only have 500 pages.
I think it'd be better if you keep your tabs equal on both counters.

I hope I have explained myself as clearly as possible 😊
