Picture book, where the soft toy the child is trying to find becomes part of the evnironment outside the child's window. E.g. I can recall a page where the toy is part of a tree branch. I was read this book in the 90s and I think it was called the Window Book (this is in New Zealand) but I can't find it by that name through Google!
