I'm look for a novel about a phd student who fails her thesis because her supervisor inserts plgiarised material into her dissertation. She is discredited and leaves univerisity and the country to work in a non-profit in Africa. I think it's a novel by an Australian author and set on a fictionalised version of the Univerity of Sydney, but I'm not certain.
