Monthly Challenge: September 2023

Welcome to our monthly Listopia Madness challenge. It is a relatively simple challenge. Every month you will get 3 listopia lists from me and 3 from the winners of the previous month. *Please note that if you do not respond in a reasonable amount of time that the 4th place person (and so on) will replace you until we get 3 lists.

How it works
📘You will read as many books as you want from as many of the lists provided as you want.
📘You will score each book using the point system provided below
📘You will keep a running tally of your total in your post (try to keep your books in one comment, if possible for easy tracking)
📘I will contact the 3 highest-scoring readers at the end of the month and they will each choose one listopia list to be included in the next month's challenge.

Thanks guys! I think this one is caused by my new glasses (just got them Wednesday). They said it would take 2 weeks for my eyes to adjust to the bifocal progressives (the last time I had bifocals I was 8 and they were the old ones with the lines). My eyes literally ache and my head is now pounding. I took 2 migraine pills yesterday and they barely took the edge off. I can't wait until my eyes adjust and my head stops pounding.

I keep putting off getting glasses. I manage without them, but I know it's only a matter of time. I dread getting used to them....

I knew it would be bad when they told me not to drive with them for 2 weeks. That got me raising my eyebrows. A heads-up would have been nice. I wasn't expecting this when I picked them up.

I get migraines every time I get new glasses Donna, so I bet something like that will really do a number on you!

If you haven't got one yet, I recommend ice packs! I got some ice packs I can wrap around my head, which I find really help some times (occasionally there are some that nothing will touch, you know the kind... *sigh*).

Sammy, you are a genius! I forgot I bought that head wrap. I was in a pharmacy one day and saw this head wrap that can be frozen or heated for 30 seconds. It was advertised for headaches. I put it in a ziplock and tossed it in the freezer. Totally forgot about it. I am going to go get it.

I felt a little guilty, Ashley, after I posted my last book and realized that we'd previously been tied - I was hoping you had a four point book that would tie us again, so we'd have an extra List!

You can blame my List on Donna. :) I have a long book I'm reading for another Challenge of hers (Space Life - go Team Murderbot!) and as it's an omnibus edition, it doesn't appear on many Lists. I really didn't want to read a 1000+ page book and not have it count for Listopia.....

It's a hodge podge for sure! Several Turf Wars ago, Sandi asked the teams to give her list suggestions. So, we setup a list specifically for it; and it was books we didn't get to use for TW but wanted to! Lol!

Well, I know it's only the 9th, but man, I think I'm going to do terribly this month! I think my Halloween-based challenges that have just started are really not complementing each other.

I don't think this'll be my best ever month either. I could get a heap of points re-reading, but I really want to get through my tbr 😁

It's been a strong start to the month for me, but I think it's going to be downhill from here. I've got several other challenges that favor long books, but they're very specific in their requirements - and I can't always make them fit Listopia. I have two other challenges closing out this month, and I'm down to the point where the books for those two are pretty narrow in range, too.

I've got so many specific books to read this month that aren't on the lists, and the ones that are are all 1 point (which I'm not using for monsters, so no bonus either, lol).
