Considering tentacles, I think there was a China Mieville book as well, but it's o the other side of the spectrum.

The Mieville is great, but it's not tagged! 😢
I can too! Looks like if you add monster or similar to the tentacle tag then they become more tolerable!
also looks reasonable.

In fact, I probably will re-read soon anyway, and will tag the ones that work so next time someone gets this task they have options! 😆

The House in the Cerulean Sea is tagged "tentacles" 2x and is really cute (but I just read it)
A Deadly Education is on there 1x. also just read and please don't ask me to read it again! 😆
Children of Ruin (really good but a book 2)
From a Buick 8 (not King's greatest achievement)
All of Octavia Butler's Xenogenesis trilogy
Gideon the Ninth
A couple of Mieville's,
and...
Magic Burns Which I am planning to read this week for turf!! 😁
You're very welcome to read the other book Mel, but you don't have to!
I had been hoping that
was going to get the tag, but weekly checks had not been going my way
but, I have finished that purple book, so shall go do an update & spin

I felt like a Dr Who. prob shouldn't have been the spinner....
Vashta Nerada
1 500 to 650
2 Skeleton or bones on the cover
3 Tagged Books-about-Books (at least 10 times)
4 A group of animals is mentioned in the text eg swarm, herd etc.
5 Word in title starts with the letter V

The 5th Gender - actual tentacle porn (for which I took off one star) but one of the best opening scenes with cat sitting on a space port
The City We Became
Borne - very good and fast read
Where the Drowned Girls Go - #7 in Wayward Children (very short)
Ring Shout - also very short
The Affair of the Mysterious Letter - a very odd, absolute favorite of mine
The Ballad of Black Tom - short
Lovecraft Country
The Soul of an Octopus: A Surprising Exploration into the Wonder of Consciousness - non-fiction

I should really re-read The Eyre Affair for books-about- books, especially as I bought the audiobook on a sale. :)
Plus it has "a herd of bemused cows" in text. ☺️

I've got the V word in title with one of my turf books for this week :)
No 500-pagers planned as yet, until tasks come through on a couple of other challenges I'm doing. Possibly in a day or 2.

I guess this works for "character has to be diplomatic" - with Pen's need to not hack off the suitors too much?

Yes, it was on both of your recommendations that I put the book on my TBR in the first place. 😊

Thanks, Sammy. It's not in the us plus catalogue.

There is an edition narrated by Scott Brick, who also does the Orphan X series.

I have read both in print and as an audio, but with a different narrator. If I didn't already have an audio and 2 print copies of the book, I might have grabbed that one! 😆

Thank..."
I would suggest hanging on and seeing if it appears some time. There are many better books out there to spend your credit on!

1. 350-450
2. tagged Religion / Religious at least 5 times
3. stationary on the cover
4. NO chocolate OR garlic in the text
5. A book with a cover, or which features an event which you consider to be an abomination

I knew we could(n't) trust You, Lovely Mods.🥰
I bet Sammy's already researching all those hot guys doing boring stuff round the office and the house. Right, Sammy? I'm really counting on you. 😅
I can just picture Tom Hiddleston doing my tax returns for me, as well as unblocking the U-bend. Especially that!🤣

My husband is usually the one lumbered with said tasks. there is most definitely nothing sexy about them! 😂😂😂

Urgh taxes. Mine get sent to my sisters so I can ignore them. Speaking of, I should check how they are going.
Well, I finally finished Demon Copperhead!
and, taking a risk, spun. I shall not be spinning during wheel....
John Willoughby and Marianne Dashwood (Sense and Sensibility)
1 500 to 650
2 published under a pseudonym

4 character is a cheater (your interpretation)
5 GREED (letters in any order) found in title

😅 Then I'll leave my Jackie O book there for the time being.
just reminded myself which book Shadow Sister was - confident that there is a cheater in there - Alice Keppel

I'll check out if there's some short tentacle porn I can find in me to tackle. :D
