I kicked out Sophie's "set in London" to finish off the Thames Ice Snake.
spun....
Dr. Zachary Smith (Lost in Space)
1 200 to 299
2 Set in space or on another planet
3 Character is untrustworthy
4 A cheesy book (your interpretation)
5 MPG science fiction/Sci-fi

I read the ACOTAR series first as books 1-3 came out. I wasn't a huge fan, but despite having some problems with SJM's manipulative writing (that woman wouldn't recognise subtlety if it spat her in the face) I enjoyed them nevertheless. Maybe I should've left them at that, lol. Re-reading them now wasn't the best of ideas. If it wasn't for page points, I would consider abandoning book 3.

Should finish HG tomorrow, most likely.

Yeah, I ended up buying a lot of her books in "bulk" in sales on audible. wondering what I was thinking really, as she just isn't really my cup of tea 😆

(but 4 Rs in the author name! lol)

So far Henry C got 2 votes (Sammy, Sonia), Christian B also got 2 (Cat, Mel).
For our team, Sophie has the deciding vote. (Domi's excluded ;)
Yeah there's a reason I haven't voted over there yet! Unlikely pretty much everyone else I don't have a strong preference either way which makes being the deciding vote for team not hot prof v difficult.

All kids know who superman and batman is.... he could vote on the alias. Just saying...
But then again. We need a deciding vote, so, yeah, maybe it's better this way.

Here is The 456
1. 350 to 450
2. Author initials (all) in TORCHWOOD
3. Character regrets a past action
4. "radio" in text"
5. MC has a child or children

When Aral tells Cordelia why he's called the "butcher of Komarr" and what happened afterwards, I thought "oh, he's a bit like Old Stoneface, the king-killer."
Thanks Mel! Just trying to get caught up with all my challenges and glad you're keeping me on track here!
reading a le Carre..... up to now my reading experiences with him have been of the Smiley novels, in grimy post-war times. (watching The Night Manager doesn't count!)
So it's a bit of a shock to have reference to Take That in this one! original era, too. their jaunty 90s pop is not my expected musical background to a spy book!

not read that one. and 600 pages seems like a LOT of le Carre to get through! he's not your most upbeat of authors, is he?

That's one less sandworm to worry about.
Next one to be spun...
Red Death (EA Poe)
1 175-225
2 Masquerade ball or party in book
3 Seven or more colors on the cover
4 "dizziness" or "dizzy" in text
5 Tagged "plague" (5 or more times)

I'd say this cover have at least seven:

White, Silver, Blue, Teal, Orange, Yellow, Pink, Red, Green, etc....

This one is the last on the series... and I know for a fact that it will have a happy ending. Because last one I read from her, featured one of the MCs' adopted kids. So, yeah... It's the path to there that scares me.
But, I already took a break. I think I'll have to start over, because I don't remember the point where I am. Bit it's just 60 pages or so.
I haven't read any le carre for about 20 years. Teenage me wasn't a fan.
Fingers crossed this isn't too traumatic in getting to the happy ending Sonia.

would your book Falling for His Practical Wife kind of fit the "cheesy" category?
If yes, we could finish off Zachary Smith. :)

Commander Waterford (The Handmaid’s Tale)
1. 350 to 450
2. Red cover
3. "Wall" in text
4. Book makes you uncomfortable (any reason)
5. Book has been made into movie or tv show
Melindam wrote: "Good idea, Cat.
I'll be Sophie's agent and put her book there. :)"
Keep organising me please!

The least I can do for my Captain!
🤭🥰

Heathcliff & Catherine (Wuthering Heights)
1. 350 to 450
2. MC bent on revenge
3. ghost in story
4. MPG Gothic
5. author initial EB or BE
I'm wondering, maybe I should move Traitor Baru Cormorant into Heathcliff & Catherine for the page count and MC bent on revenge. It's against two +page count at the moment, but they are probably easier fills (wall in text / makes you uncomfortable).
