Cathy‘s Readathon Log

Thanks!
Lamilla wrote: "Good luck with your weekend reading, Cathy! Long list as usual!"
Yeah, but that‘s only options! I will definitely not read all of that… 😝

It‘s my favorite SF magazine, so I got a subscription. The authors and stories are always very diverse.

You, too!

I started tracking time last night at 8pm, thinking I would do that 24-in-48-hours thing. But I deleted the timers again when I went to bed. I will just read what I read. Constantly starting and stopping the timers is just too distracting. I will try to do the sprints and count time and pages during those sprints.
Unfortunately that won‘t happen during that birthday party I am going to tonight. I doubt I will be there terribly long though, I am not really keen on going to that party anyway. It takes me an hour driving there and back—I have to check and write down when the sprints are, I can listen to my audio in the car…
Food during the readathon:
Whatever we get at the party tonight.
Other than that I don‘t really do much different for readathons than for normal weekends.
- I have some salad, fish, cheese, eggs, tomatoes.
- Nuts and oranges as snacks in between.
- I have a new alcohol-free wine I want to try out.

I'm a true tracking girl, track my time and pages lol

Driving there and back gave me another 2 hours of audio. Under one hour left of Pushing Ice

Hope your second half goes well!

How many books have you been reading? Have you finished any?
I finished Pushing Ice and have 70 pages left of
Son of the Shadows.
Are you on track with respect to your readathon goals so far?
I am!
Have you eaten real food today? (Not just junk food, ACTUAL HEALTHY FOOD) What was your favorite food or beverage so far?
I had all the usual meals, aka lunch, dinner and will make a very late breakfast now…
Have you been participating in any of the activities on our social media (sprints, photo challenges, discussion questions, BINGO, etc.)
I took part in 3 sprints and answered some of the discussion posts. I plan to be here for the last sprint.
Are you growing sleepy? Do you plan to nap, or stop early, or are you extending the readathon hours to include sleep?
I just slept for 7 hours and I will definitely extend the readathon, as it will finish here at 2pm.
Have you been outside yet today? Have you had much exercise (besides the heavy lifting required to hold your book)?
A little walking yesterday. I haven‘t been outside today yet, but my balcony door is open and I am enjoying the fresh air.
How is your readathon going, overall?
Not bad, although yesterday was not as much reading as I wanted to accomplish.

Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch! Absolutely outstanding audio!
And I only got the audio of Pet Sematary, because it is narrated by Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under). 😝

I have that on my TBR. Maybe I'll go the audio route for it :) Thanks.

Wow, you're all prepared!
I'm preparing now as I wasn't sure if Id be able to join but luckily I managed to reschedule my appointments for Saturday!
How about your plans for the day, any meet ups with friends? ;)

So the readathon so far was a non-event for me.
Hours 1-8, 2pm-9am: Sleeping!
Hours 9-15, 10am-5pm: Breakfast, meeting friends for coffee, shopping, etc. Got home, had a shower (31C outside!), read some of the threads here in the group. In the meantime I listened to 1h 35m of Golden Fool here and there. Will fix some dinner now and continue to listen during the sprint of hour 16…

Not this time! :D I met some friends as well, Cathy! Got one of my books back and lended two more :D
I'm also participating in the reading sprint for hour 16, although it would be the 3rd reading sprint for me

Same, I meant to try to sleep 6 hours but it ended up over 8. I read all weekend though but still - sad face.
Sounds like you're having fun though and that's the main thing

Hour 17: Finished Golden Fool. I will take a small break and then switch to reading Failure to Communicate.
Lamilla, true! The reverse readathon feels like just one day of reading with it starting in the middle of the night for us.

So the readathon so far was a non-event for me.
Hours 1-8, 2pm-9am: Sleeping!
Hours 9-15, 10am-5pm: Breakfast, meeting friends for coffee, shopping, ..."
I mean, it wouldn’t be a typical Cathy readathon otherwise right? 🤣
Hope you enjoy the rest of the readathon!

I updated message 198 with my reading plans. I just checked the starting time for Europe again… 2pm on Saturday, I think.
I will definitely be out on Saturday evening, I am invited to a friend‘s 60th birthday party. Other than that I have made no plans. I will do my grocery shopping on Saturday morning, maybe with an audiobook. Friday I am mostly booked with a dentist appointment and going to a food and garden fair with a friend.
I will probably do a more relaxed version and start my reading time Friday night already with a 24-in-48-hours approach
