SOLVED. YA Sci-Fi with kids on military base, light time travel elements. Spoilers ahead. [s]

I read this book when I was in the 6th grade, so years 2015-16, and I think it came out that same year, but I'm not sure.
This book was a science fiction story about these kids on a military base, and they weren't allowed to leave. Suddenly things take a wicked turn when one of their friends starts to kill the soldiers with telekinetic powers. Some other soldiers come in that have a weird knowledge about the situation, and are able to save the kids from the base before it self destructs. These soldiers, as they turn out, are future versions of most of these kids and were told they were in a simulation.
One of the kids believed them and stayed behind to sacrifice himself so they could escape, and the girl that went on a rampage was taken apart and put back together repeatedly until she was given super intelligence. They did that same experiment on rats.
