read maybe 10 years ago. I believe the author is male. Youngish female hiding out in Alabama space agency of some kind. Started having to wear sunglasses as her eyesight became sensitive to light. Very different kind of vampire story. I don't remember any more details except that I wanted there to be more, more, more! Hope someone recognizes it.
