A man who cannot die and little by little is seeing the end of the universe

I remember that it was about a man who, unable to die, decided to undergo an experimental treatment where he lost the ability to move. His wife decides to keep him at home but thinking that he is already dead, she leaves him in the basement. he he he listens to it every night, and after that many things happen and man lives until the end of the universe.
