Seems like there's not true chapters in The Awakened Kingdom, but Audible breaks things down into chapters.. Anyway I'm almost done with "Chapter" 2 (view spoiler)[ Shill really is just a kid, they're cute! Poor baby killing a town by saying hello too agressively... Glad Nia (?) could fix it..

I wonder how much mortal time has passed since the third book?

Woof, things look rough in Dar. The whole gender power imbalance thing is not great no matter who's on top. This flip in this society is interesting though. But that scene of the woman molesting the boy was sickening, and she was stopped because "they didn't have time for that nonsense".
I"m thinking the scroll the boy had Shill place had something to do with men's rights? (hide spoiler)]

Finished with Awakened! (view spoiler)[ I honestly loved it... Probably more so than the original trilogy. Her writing seemed to have improved more? Or it's more in the style of the Broken Earth maybe? like she experimented with second person here and went full out later. Either way I loved the writing here! And the concept of a god of discovering your own power? Taking your own power? A god that makes mortals into gods, but only if they believe in their own power? WHat's the shorthand for that concept??? lol
But I love a good montage of people realizing their power and standing up for themselves. Always reminds me of the last scene in Buffy LOL (hide spoiler)]

Read Shades in Shadow... It was okay. The stories were a bit too short for me to get much out of them I think.

Yeah, I like how the author describes them as a "tryptic" though--it gives the feel of a series of snapshots, rather than true stories.

It seems like that scene marks the beginning of the gods' plan to rebirth Enefa... but I'm not sure if the time span is long enough. (hide spoiler)]

I didn't think so... I don't think enough time had passed. Seemed early in "The Bright" (which lasted at least 1000 years? Or was it 10000?)

Good point... don't remember the time frame exactly, but definitely too short. Will try to read a bit more this week, but having trouble finding time for eye reads the past few days...
