Diogo | 1015 comments Hi! As per Goodreads' catalog policies (https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...), this book cannot be added as of the present moment:

Goodreads considers the following to be valid book records: [...] forthcoming books with only partial information. This does not including rumored or unconfirmed releases, which should not be added to the catalog even if the publisher hints at a new release [...]

Hey, thanks for responding. Per what you quoted, "forthcoming books with only partial information" are considered books by Goodreads. The book I'm requesting be added has been confirmed by the translator as forthcoming (per the source I linked in my original post, which is from the translator's website) and is not merely rumored or hinted at, and so it can be added.

Edit: and given that the next Game of Thrones and Kingkiller Chronicles books are listed on Goodreads as records, it seems Goodreads is find with taking the author's (or in this case, translator's, as this record is for a specific translation of a book by a long-dead author) word as adequate confirmation that a book is forthcoming.

Diogo | 1015 comments Thanks for the response!
When searching for the books, I've seen they are planned to be released in the following 2 years. However, there is none other information about them excluding for the book titles. I figure that falls out on the "even if the publisher hints at a new release".
There is no publication info at all as of now
I'm sorry

Diogo | 1015 comments And being a translation, it would have to be added under the specific book
I'll let a staff member or a more experienced Librarian review this case

Oh, what other information is necessary?

"The Doors of Stone" by Patrick Rothfuss appears to have less information than I provided but is currently on Goodreads. Ditto for "The Winds of Winter" by George R R Martin, "Absolution" by Jeff VanderMeer, etc.

I think what Goodreads is trying to avoid is people adding a record based on an author saying they're working on their next project without having a title or release date or anything. (Though I still see this happening for authors like Gillian Flynn or Susanna Clarke.)

Re: your comment on translation, this would actually not be combined with any existing record as Ellsworth is splitting Dumas's "Three Musketeers" series up in a way that hasn't been done before. More info here.

Martina (martina_s_hlavou_v_knihach) | 11993 comments I’m pretty sure at least an ISBN, publisher and publishing date would be necessary for us to consider it to be valid book record.

A lot of "rumored" new books has been added a long time ago and to this day there are no books actually published (that is the reason why the policy has changed in the first place).

I’m sorry but title is not enough. I’m closing this thread for now.

Thank you for your response… Can you show me where that's outlined in the manual or by GR staff in the forums?

If that's what it says, then please remove/NAB the following records:

Edwina Book Anaconda | 26775 comments From website that you linked to.

"As of December 2023, the first five volumes are in print from Pegasus Books, Book Six, Court of Daggers, and Book Seven, Devil’s Dance, are available as independent publications, and Book Eight, Shadow of the Bastille, is currently being published in serial form at the Musketeers Cycle Substack page."

Bumping for librarian to look at.
