Cheryl (cherylllr) I've tried, I think three times, to appreciate this. My adult son loves the whole series, and he's finicky. Maybe this time, with you-all, it'll click!

I just got it off his shelf. He says 'be sure to pay close attention to the characters and read with some care, esp. Gen's. Don't worry too much about setting or world-building.'

Aga | 1090 comments A little bit guilty pleasure-ish but it’s exactly what I read on vacation.
The book reminds me of my favorite book from the Narnia seriesThe Horse and His Boy. I’ve read that one so many times as a kid.

Michelle (michellehartline) | 3204 comments It's really very well written.

Banshee (bansheethecat) | 230 comments I just started the novel. So far it seems... uncomplicated and potentially a fun and light read? I suppose it's perfect to balance out the heavy The Space between Worlds.

Aga | 1090 comments I’m 6 chapters in and it’s getting more and more interesting.

Marie Chalupová (Levitara) (levitara) | 23 comments The first time I saw this book I added it to my TBR because of the cover. It would have probably stayed there unread if it didn't become BOTM...

Two chapters in and I am liking it. The world is inspired by ancient Greece as far as the architecture, names, and climate go. I feel like we get many Greek mythology-inspired fantasy or mythology/history retellings, but not necessarily Greece-inspired fantasy worlds so that might be interesting. I am definitely vibing with Gen, he seems like he will be a fun character to follow.

Bonnie | 1290 comments Technically this is a Children's book I think... doesn't seem like it though. Could be an adult book. (Probably why SFFBC allowed it.)

Anyway I am expecting to enjoy it. My friend sent me some TikTok videos a while back, where bookstore employees recommended it.
