YA science related - unsure if sci-fi or nonfiction. Characters were explorers(?) trudging through a cold, dark, tundra environment. Maybe on another planet? Read 1990-1993.

2 scientist (astronauts or explorers?) heavily dressed in astronaut-like gear, trudging through blizzard conditions. Heading towards some type of chamber that they entered. A very cold, frozen, tundra climate. And it was DARK, no sunlight. Possibly on another planet?

Read between 1990-93 when I was in middle school 11-14 yrs old.
