SOLVED. YA Fantasy series with clock/ time based villains and protagonist gets stronger. Read 2012-2017. Spoiler.

I read it between 2012 and 2017, and I remember the main character was a boy who got a minute hand wand and the villain of the book had an hour hand wand in the first book. There was some alternate fantasy world with a bureaucracy and there was some ancient evil dude chained up that would talk to humans/mortals, but not the denizens of the fantasy world. Over the series, the main character collects more wands and starts becoming like the fantasy worlds people. I think in the second book he broke his leg and healed it wrong. The finale was something like (view spoiler)[ the fantasy race part of him separated from him and he became normal again, while the part of him fixed things. (hide spoiler)]

I ended up finding it, Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix.
