Who does the space pilot work for?
Where is the ship? Is it described as a "ghost" ship or abandoned ship?

Kris, it is YA fiction. Along the lines of the original Han Solo trilogy audience. The space pilot works for himself. Kind of like Han Solo. I think they just stumble upon the ship out in space somewhere. The ship is either off course and missing for centuries or possibly hiding. The ship's crew is part of a defeated alien race and they are all in stasis or hibernation when the party arrives. They slowly start to wake up and realize the ship is being investigated by the space pilot and his companions. Then they try to overcome them with their super speed.
