Emily | 4 comments I don't remember much about this book aside from a lot of vivid imagery. The main character was a girl, probably 9-11ish, who daydreamed / imagined things like a fawn hiding in a thicket. I read the book as a girl, around 1990, and it felt old at the time--I think my mom got it from a library book sale of older books. It is likely out of print. I remember enjoying it and hope to find it to share with my children.

Emily | 4 comments Edit: apologies, first time posting. Not YA since not teens, so maybe Children's Fiction more appropriate.

Joseph Marquis | 418 comments Andy chance it was Mandy, by Julie Andrews?

“ When she carefully raised her head a few seconds later, she was rewarded with a most won- derful and surprising sight. A young fallow deer had come down to the stream to drink. It was standing so near to Mandy that she could clearly see the brown spots on the fawn coloring and the small lump of a tail with the white patch around it.”
